watched Monuments Men for the first time which is a fun kind of hollywood throwback movie. Anyway this line at the beginning was infuriating lol

Was pretty underwhelmed by it. Was really hoping I'd like it given the cast and the subject matter.

yeah it's an unserious movie. would have been an interesting project for spielberg to tackle but i don't know if there was enough meat there. i would read a book about the whole thing though.

I LOVED Ex Machina and I also LOVED Arrival.  At least I think I did.  Arrival is the alien language interpretation movie, right?  If so, I loved it.

I absolutely loved Arrival even thought the ending absolutely tore my heart out of my chest.  I don't think I even watched it again for a second time I was so distraught.

Yes.  Very sad tale.  I assume you've read the short story the movie was based on?  If not, I think you should look it up.  It's good stuff and explains a bit more of the lore underlying the movie.

A long time ago, I'll have to look it up again.

True Romance. What a cast! The movie was okay and there were some LOL bad scenes. There were also some good scenes but not enough to make the movie good. I read James Franco modeled Brad Pitt's character for Pine Apple express so I enjoyed the scenes with Brad Pitt. Needed more Brad Pitt scenes, imo.

Ballad of Buster Scruggs: 5 of the 6 stories (is filmella a word?) were exactly what I'd expect from a western story told by the Cohen brothers. The last one of the 6 didn't really fit the same vibe.

Do I need to watch Equalizer 1 and 2 before watching Equalizer 3?

No.  In the first one he equalizes everything.  In the second one, everything goes back to unequal.  So, the third one is again about equalizing, but I will not spoil the ending.

Good Time ... just, chaotic as eff. i went into it totally blind not realizing it was the same guys as Uncut Gems. my goodness what a stressful 90 minutes. would recommend.

Poor Things .... went into this one blind as well and WOW. it has the sex. storyline is absolutely bonkers and genius. have done no research on whether it's based on a book or something. it's hard to make me feel uncomfortable in a movie theater but this one almost did the trick. would also recommend tho.

i went into this blind as well. my initial reaction still holds up, i think this is the best movie i have seen in a very long time. i don't want to give any more away because it was so thrilling just having no idea where it was going. i was never uncomfortable but yes, sex is very central to this story.

Poor Things is 10/7. PEDs rec'd

On the fence with Saltburn.  One thing I am not on the fence about is there was entirely too much dong at the end.

Someone give me the 411 on Saltburn.  Is it weird?  I’d like to watch it, and trying to figure out if I should watch with Mrs. DQ.  She’s not a big fan of weird/arty movies.
