Everything Everywhere All At Once. I tried to go in with an open mind. I know I called it art house trash before watching it but I really wanted to like it. Everything Everywhere All At Once is horrible. It's incredibly dumb, made no sense, was not funny, and did not stir my emotions even the tiniest little bit. I hated it.  I guess a movie that is original, very strange, and incredibly nonsensical might appeal to some, but I need more.

Did you ever watch The Grand Budapest Hotel and what did you think of it?

My expectations weren't very high, but I enjoyed A Scanner Darkly a lot more than I expected to.

I also didn't enjoy Everything Everywhere All At Once very much. I get easily distracted and had a hard time following along.

Will probably watch EEAAO tomorrow, but the reports on it are very good from those who watched it (and also nonplussed it won so many oscars)

I ask because it too is an art house comedy, I thought it was either the worst or second worst movie I've seen, the other being The Manchurian Candidate with Denzel.

Grand Budapest is maybe my least favorite Wes Anderson. He's just cranking the Wes Anderson dial farther and farther with each effort

I'm surprised to see all this shade being thrown at Grand Budapest. I really enjoyed it. F. Murray Abraham, and F all y'all.

To enjoy Wes Anderson movies fully, you have to be at least mildly entertained by the exploits of rudderless affluent people who come from generational wealth.

I kind of liked Grand Budapest.  I thought French Dispatch sucked.

I haven't seen EEAAO.  The initial reviews made me really want to see it, but the more i learned about it the more i didn't care about it.

French Dispatch is withheld from my current rankings as i've only seen it once, to date. based on my first viewing it's a strong contender to replace Budapest as my least favorite

I'm sure I would hate it too. It probably boils down to the fact that I don't find absurdist comedy to be funny at all. I guess dildo nunchucks, hot dog fingers, and butt plug battles just don't tickle my funny bone.

EEAAO is nothing like a Wes Anderson movie. I don't understand the comparison.

Also, EEAAO is a pretty good movie. I'd understand people not thinking it's the best thing ever, or even best movie of the last year, but if you pay attention to it, it's really not that hard to follow and it's a funny movie with a positive message. Definitely worth a watch.

i think MiR was lumping them together based on their farcical / absurdist humor

The people keep asking me, so I want to go on the record to state that I enjoyed EEAAO. And yes, it does remind me of Dax's brain.
