Bad times at the El Royale - pretty decent. Felt like it was made in 1994. Very Tarantinoish but not as good. 5.5/7

As much as I like Jeff Bridges, that movie tried a little too hard to be like a Tarantino movie.

Very much agree. Also, don’t care that it’s too Tarantinoish. The world needs more Tarantinoish movies.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Secret Life of Pets 2 - 3.5/7

Two separate narratives collide at the end. Actually better than I thought.

lot of plane movies lately

Network (1976): 6/7
some fantastic dialogues and monologues, and i guess the plot was supposed to be wildly satirical, but this millennial took almost everything at face value. like, yeah oh no crap people acting crazy drives ratings? :dunno:

Catch-22 (1970): 3/7
the first half hour or so you get TLB alan arkin, martin sheen, bob newhart, and jon voight doing basically broad laurel & hardy bits and it's all very funny! then the movie decides to get serious and it sucks after that.

Secret in their Eyes (2015): 1.5/7 this is one of the worst movies i've ever seen.

Paddleton (2019): 5/7 worth watching for Ray Romano. i hope he gets some awards for this one

Maps to the Stars (2014): 4.5/7  :sdeek:

Dont sweat it. I misspelled his name yesterday. Granted, it was a private text message, and I promptly corrected myself before committing Seppuku.

Hope you liked it, Wacks. The hilarity of the end sequence easily made up for the length of the picture, imho.

Watched it last night with IPA GF.

GF at 1:45 point: I have no idea what this film is about.

GF at end: Holy crap that was fun.

Yep. That's how QT does it. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

GF was out of town this weekend, so Dlew had some movies to watch.

Brawl in Cell Block 99 - Pretty good!  Vince Vaughn being a ruthless badass in prison is different to watch.  He's a big guy so it's not too hard to believe.  Directed by the Bone Tomahawk guy so it's extremely gory.

A Serious Man - Coen Brothers.  If I was Jewish, I think the references and things that make this a *great film* wouldn't be lost on me and I'd have enjoyed it more.  But alas.

The Believer - Same thing as A Serious Man. TLB Ryan Gosling is a jewish neo-Nazi.  This was pretty disturbing because Gosling's character is portrayed as this struggling intellectual who speaks articulately about the ideals of fascism and nazism.  I could easily see this movie being picked up by dipshits and deifying Gosling's character during parts.  Very of its time (2000) in terms of style.  Worth the watch.

Girlfriend and I had a mini John Cusack marathon last night:

1. 1408 - still holds up.  Good horror movie that doesn't need to rely on lots of blood and gore to be effective. 6/7
2. Cell - no, not to be confused with "The Cell" starring J Lo, it's just "Cell."  One of the worst movies I've ever seen.  It's roughly on the same level as a SyFy original.  0/7

Interestingly both of these movies were adapted from Steven King stories but it's amazing how far apart they were in quality  :nerd:
