Kong is so fun. Some of the best effects I've ever seen. And some great references to the '33 King Kong, Apocalypse Now, 2001: A Space Odyssey and Samuel L. Jackson says "hold on to your butts" so I'm going to consider that a reference to Jurassic Park.

Law Law Land: A welcome diversion from the usual Hollywood tripe that musical fans will mildly enjoy if able to ignore the gagging sounds emanating from Hollywood buffs who, lacking appreciation of trivial matters such as production quality and audio/visual believability in modern film, line up at the gloryhole to fellate this well-intentioned-but-rather-poorly-executed homage to days of Hollywood gone by for good reason--mediocrity. That said, Emma Stone is a babe, and being different is at least some currency in Hollywoodland present. RT Score when watched: 95%. Spracadjusted score: 71%.

Moana: A pleasing acid trip wrapped in a kid's movie and buoyed by the effervescent lyrical prose of Lin-Manuel that bachelors, parents, and kids alike  can enjoy. Instant classic, imho. RT Score when watched: 95%. Spracadjusted score: ~push~

I felt the same way about the Avengers. Just could not get into that movie and have never watched it all the way through, but I think I've seen enough random parts to have seen the whole thing by now.

But I really enjoyed GOTG. Even though it was totally bizarre the characters and actors kept it funny and fresh throughout.
