2017 is shaping up to be an epic year for science fiction / fantasy movies. Guardians 2, another Ridley Scott Alien movie, another Planet of the Apes with Woody Harrelson, -=DARK TOWER=-, Harrison Ford back in Blade Runner, Star Wars VIII, and Luc Besson returns with something very Fifth Element-y?
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

There is a new King Kong movie coming out, too.

Technically, I guess you're right. It just came out! Also, Megan Fox is in my top 5. I might get into this weirdo star wars thing now.

There is a scene in War Dogs that I swear is either an homage or an absolute ripoff from Lord of War...

Shut up and take my money.

 :surprised: :runaway: :surprised:

So conflicted.  Absolutely love The Gunslinger.  Top 3 fav books.  That said, most stephen king movies/tv series are trash and they need to basically rewrite the last 2 installments of the series to make me go see them.

AND(!) if Stephen King actually appears as Stephen King, I will lose my crap(bad way not good way)

From what I've read, they plan to depart significantly from the books in how they tell the story. Like the first movie may be a mishmash of things from lots of the books. I guess they were worried a movie just based on Gunslinger wouldn't get the series off the launch pad. That might be a good thing - or a total disaster. I'd sure feel more confident if they had planned to start by faithfully adapting the first few books and then maybe branching off from there.

McConaughey seems like a very promising choice. I had always envisioned Roland as Clint Eastwood, because that's how he is described in the books and illustrations, but there's no reason Roland can't be played by a black dude, per se. Idris Elba is certainly a great actor, and maybe this means they'll be dropping the whole Roland/Deta racism thing from the movies, which was actually pretty tedious reading.

I don't think they've cast Eddie or Sussana yet but Jake will be in this movie?

Jake has to be in the movie unless the departure is in a very major way.

Also, I could see the need to merge the first two books.  The second was slow AF and 80% was just into/backstory of characters.  That said, the first book was fantastic and I would be sad if they f'ed up the first movie by making too much of it about the second book.

Man, given what has happened in past king movies, I feel like I have high probability of being disappointed here.  Ron Howard better deliver!
