hm...i can't really say i enjoyed that.  i found a few of the little episodes interesting, enlightening even -- specifically the bit about him lying on his deathbed surrounded by people he didn't recognize and thinking about how silly his preoccupation with his dying moment was.

also did a pretty good job of driving home how confusing memory loss must be.

yeah I'm not saying I liked it, but it is was one of the more bizarre/interesting things I've seen in a while and more than anything I just wanted someone else to give me their thoughts. like, after I watched it I was like what in the world did I just watch? did I like that or hate it? like you said, there were some interesting moments and one that actually made me laugh out loud.

i really doubt you'll be spoiling this for anyone, so you  might as well just come out and say which part made you laugh.

@Ofc. D

Definitely a weird style, varying between real and animated parts.  Were the non-animated parts supposed to be when he was thinking/seeing clearly?  I don't know.

Unreliable narrators generally bother me too.  Was his mom really a monster?  Was he really mentally ill (outside of whatever dimentia (?) he had)?  I don't know.  I don't know if the film was supposed to have an overarching message or if it was supposed to be just 30 sort of connected episodes.

the m'bating for 7 hours part. it just kind of came out of nowhere. maybe not a real laugh but I certainly made some kind of audible noise. also I think it was kind of a glimpse into the mind of a crazy guy on his death bed and all of his memories kind of racing through his mind, although I'm not entirely sure.  it's apparently the third of a trilogy and critics (time, village voice) all loved it. dunno. maybe I need to see the other two. it was definitely different and I think you're probably onto something in terms of animation vs real life and imagined vs real.

There are few things critics love more than finding imaginary genius in weird, nonsensical garbage.

Am I going to have to wait like 4 months to see Star Wars in order to not show up 3 hours beforehand to not sit in the front corner?

Probably more like two weeks, but it depends on if you are going to a theater with reserved seating or not. That and if you are willing to buy tickets a week or two in advance.
