I can find almost zero empathy for people who choose to climb Everest and then get into life threatening danger. I don't think it would be fun to watch that at all.
The book, at least, was not particularly kind to many of the inexperienced people involved in the tragedy. Not sure about the movie. There is definitely something unappealingly selfish about people who gladly spend so much money and time away from family, or bypassing family altogether, for the trophy of standing at the top of the world, but it also looks like one hell of an adventure.
