i didn't recognize him from anything, guess the only things i've seen that he was in are hedwig & the angry inch and the village.  i commented to ms tobias that he looked like he could be a member of stevesie's all-star band

Really disappointed you didn't like Frank, PW, but I can understand. Not really your type of movie.

'71 though???

Excuse me, I forgot to reply to your inquiry about '71.

I have not and may not ever see it. It really does not at all interest me. Is it possible I will see it based upon yours and other's recommendation? Possibly.

I've seen each Funny Games. Can't recall which I preferred. English was several years later, however. Would not want to watch back to back.

Why do director's remake their own films? I wouldn't. Original The Vanishing('89?--Spoorloos), far, far superior to remake.

For the Haneke fans! Try 71 Fragments of a Chronology of Chance, Benny's Video, and most importantly The Seventh Continent. Existential, man!

Yeah it's Irish and is super hard for me to understand.  That's the thing with me and irish or british films that have a lot of cockney in them.  So hard for me to get used to the accents and also follow the movie.

Have you seen The Double with Jesse Eisenberg?  I really didn't like it.  Hated the pacing.  Just gave me the creeps and not in a fun way.  Interesting premise though.

Yes, you're right. All I remember about it is that it is bad quirky, tedious and has that one actress in it who I don't like looking at.

Period motion pictures about war simply are too common and I've seen too many to be interested, generally. Most ain't The Thin Red Line, ya know?

I'm going to say in this thread that True Detective was the best television ever made, along with the first season and a half of Laguna Beach, and I'm including it here because it's better than television and reasonably short. I mean, Satantango is 7.5 hours long, right? It's a motion picture.

The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Her & Him were worthwhile. Will not watch Them.

I admire the effort and thought more so than the result. Overall good tone. < most important*

I found it super boring.  But I watched it while dozing on and off on a rainy saturday morning, and you know what?  I enjoyed that morning.

Night at the Museum 3 was really terrible guys. Probably not going to be an issue for most of you, but definitely skip.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

It has, and the consensus is that John Wick got seriously snubbed by the Oscars in multiple catagories.

I've always been fascinated with Las Vegas, and after recently visiting for the first time have been digging into its history quite a bit lately. Found a pretty cool PBS American Experience documentary called Las Vegas: An Unconventional History on Youtube.

It's pretty informative and does an entertaining and thoughtful job of chronicling the city's first 100 years (1905-2005).

First link is part 1, and the second part 2.

It kind of makes me sad that I'll never be able to experience the city in its heyday, and leaves me a bit jealous of those who were able to visit the place in the 50s and 60s.

If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Just finished Fury.

Man... I mean, you know how it's gonna go, the special effects are a little over the top at times, but still, I enjoyed this one.

It was also a free Redbox rental, so win/win.
