I've seen plenty of Sniper movies, got plenty of "returning home" stuff from Jarhead and others, and generally really not that interested in the story.   Maybe I'm being influenced by too many gung-ho, kill'em all types on the Internet.   I'll consider the DVD . . . maybe.

 Not to be unpatriotic or anything here, but yeah, I'm sick of these movies. KILL ALL THE MUSLIMS!!!! AHHHH!!!! Man, if I was a Muslim actor and they asked me to be in these movies I'd be like "nope"

Not exactly topical, but I'm not going to start a new thread or resurrect an old one for this.

Star Wars fans rejoice: Disney rejected all of George Lucas's ideas for the new trilogy. So I guess Jar Jar's kids won't be featured in the new movies.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

Liked Lucy Lots

Finally watched this one. It's a piece of crap. The long scene in the beginning is pretty neat, but after that it is very . Very contrived and (this is worst imo) feels the need to explain what's going on through dialogue. Woof.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze. I've given this flick four stars and one raccoon every single viewing since it hit the silver screen in 1991. I wore out a vhs copy or two growing up. It was my grandmother's trump card when I was too much to handle. That tape was the only non-disney movie she owned.

saw Selma yesterday, it was very good. the soundtrack is pretty awesome and the acting from top to bottom is solid. Oyelowo should have been nominated. the writers do a really good job of showing MLK and Coretta as very conflicted people.

i watched boyhood last night.  really long.  i don't think there was a plot but maybe there was.
my 24 hour rental expired with about 10-15 minutes left in the movie, i don't know how it ended but i'm quite sure there was a lot of sizzle in those waning moments of the film.
who knows, maybe some day i'll find myself watching the final 10 minutes of boyhood.  if that happens, i promise to append this post with my final thoughts on this cinematic masterpiece.

I thought Cooper was excellent - especially the PTS at home scenes.

I left hating that movie and especially Eastwood for making a 21st century propaganda flick. :flush:

I think you're being facetious, but if not, I guess I don't really see it as propoganda.   And I'm on the left side of the aisle.

To me, it's a tragedy.   I had read the book, and know all about his other issues, but clearly Kyle had a defective personality that made him feel the need to be a protector.     I didn't really take away anything as glorifying war or "war porn".

I haven't seen American Sniper, but I heard that Chris Kyle is the guy who got sued by Jesse Ventura for libel, and Ventura won, which means he had a pretty strong case to actually win a libel suit. If Kyle lied about Ventura to promote his book, doesn't that call into question the veracity of the book itself?

I mean, I'm still going to see the movie because its success seems to be really annoying the left, but the libel suit takes a little of the polish off for me.

its a movie, not a documentary

his book is a memoir with a flawed narrator.

i know there are probably alot of average americans approaching this movie as a historical record, but probably nobody here.

I'll help you with this, clams. In the final 10 minutes he heads off to college, but not before his mom starts balling and questioning what the rest of her life is for with the last kid out of the house and no husband (super depressing). He then leaves for college and meets his roommate. He hits it off with his roommate and his roommate asks him if he wants to skip orientation and go hiking and do some drugs with some hotties. He agrees to the terms and gets super rough ridin' high while they're climbing through canyons (looked like uteps area) and talking about the meaning of life with one another. He finally starts tripping balls with one of the girls and they gaze eachother in the eyes after talking about some deep crap. Credits roll after that, so you assume they banged, which, good for him since his last gf was a whore.

Overall, it's a really overrated movie, but i'm happy he got it in, in the end.
