I watched a few okay movies this weekend.

eXistenZ (4/7) - Jude Law and William Dafoe movie that came out in 1999. A little bit of The Matrix and Inception, but worse than both. Original idea and ahead of its time.
Conclave (4/7) - Not my type of movie but entertaining enough to keep my attention. I saw someone describe it as Succession version of the Vatican and that holds up.
The Gorge (4/7) - The trailer led me to believe this was going to be more of a romance/love story but it ended up being more Sci-Fi, which I was happy about. A crappy sci-fi movie but good enough to not feel bad about watching it.

Yes, these were all 4/7. None were great but they weren't bad enough to regret watching.

I think I might watch conclave to get ready for the new poping process.
Conclave was ok the first time I saw it and boring af the second time

Emily the Criminal 5/7 - Aubrey Plaza very good!
I'm giving this a 6/7, idk why it didn't get more love when it came out. Probably in part bc the title is dumb and kind of misleading. It's not a comedy at all. feels more like a Safdie movie but with the stress level dialed down to about 80%. If Uncut Gems is the tallest rollercoaster in the world, Emily is the mamba.

Is that the one where she’s a kind of a credit card fraudster?  I liked it ok.  Probably 4 raccoons for me.

I know the reviews suck but we both enjoyed the new captain America movie when we saw it on Saturday.

It really was fn great. Arnold is not great at acting, but he is great at acting like a benevolent himbo. Maybe the best to ever do it actually

RIP Gene Hackman. Thank you for Hoosiers, the greatest sports movie of all time.

Also Crimson Tide is very underrated and is a fantastic movie, just fantastic.

Mississippi Burning
French Connection
Poseidon Adventure
No Way Out
Bat 21
Unforgiven
The Firm

All terrific and very rewatchable.

Never was a fan of Hoosiers, not sure why.  My dad loved it, just never was into it.

I really liked Hoosiers but did a rewatch a couple years ago and it did not hold up for me.

Hoosiers is the most nostalgic movie of all time for me. It was one of the only movies we had on VHS when I was a kid that wasn't Ninja Turtle related. My dad taped it off TV and I can still see 'Hoosiers' written in pen on the label. I watched it all the time. I love everything about it. I own the commemorative DVD and the case looks and feels like a basketball.

If you ever want to know anything about Hoosiers, or talk to me about Hoosiers, or watch Hoosiers, just let me know.

If anyone is interested in a Gene Hackman deep cut they should watch The Conversation. Calling it a deep cut is kind of funny considering it was nominated for Best Picture but if you aren't a million years old you probably haven't seen it. It might be his best film.
