So has there been a big influx of teachers fleeing California and NY with high hopes of enjoying Oklahoma's lovely climate and beaches or something?
Just seems that if I was a "blue state liberal" teacher who had any means of making a living where I was at, Oklahoma would be about the last place I would move (maybe Alabama or Mississippi would be worse).

You move to Oklahoma because you can find good paying jobs in a place with arguably the lowest cost of living in the country. We’ve been able to do things and save a lot of money living here that we wouldn’t have been able to do other places. However, teacher pay here is terrible, so that offsets the reason to live here.

Teachers aren’t moving here from those places. It’s all a show.

The test scores are low & I hate our state superintendent. However, everyone lately has been referencing a ranking that listed us last. Part of that ranking was dependent on average ACT score. Here the state pays for everyone to take it once and they push it as if it’s required. As such a much higher % of our kids take it, a lot that wouldn’t have taken it & don’t take it seriously bringing it down.

For the most part the districts ignore the MAGA stuff from the state. I think my kids have gotten a pretty good education. But parts of the state struggle because the state is poor and doesn’t fund like it should.

Top 3 most hatable things about MAGA. Not just the lying their balls off, but when they go against things they know are popular and needed just to be against the other party only to lie their balls off later and after passage and take credit for the needed and popular thing. Grinds my gears!

The Oklahoma state superintendent, Ryan Walters, has kissed Trump & Linda McMahon’s ass every opportunity he gets. He has tweeted at Linda multiple times. This week she spent a day in OKC, including touring a Gulen charter school (which is another level of irony) with the governor & former speaker of the house (who is running against Walters for governor) & did not meet with Walters at all.
