Low oxy iq (loiq) here, is it even possible to have a meltdown while on oxy?

Or the $500 billion could have already been spent, and they could be working on the next round.   Which has pretty much been the actual point all along, but Gin and Oxy Nancy is too busy losing her crap at Wolf Blitzer.

LOIQ, here also. Does oxy refer to oxycodone? Has anyone ITT combined oxycodone with gin? Oxycodone gives me a pleasant euphoria with faint notes of foreboding that I might be about to stop breathing. Would not want to combine with alcohol.

I would be too chicken to combine with alcohol.

So Pelosi could've said yes to $1.8 trillion but decided to hold out for a better deal and is now going to hopefully get half that.

Sounds like she sucks at negotiations.

I think you're making a false assumption that the 1.8t deal was real (Senate had buy in). I do agree with the premise she lost leverage since the last round of negotiations(ie could have had a "better" deal earlier).

there was definitely not an actual mitch mcconnell approved 1.8t offer on the table.  but also, obviously she has less leverage now than before the election.  elections, as has been said, have consequences.

I agree that the 1.8T deal was fake news but wasn’t there like a 1.2T deal on the table from the senate a few months ago or was it less than that?

mcconnell's official offer was 600bish, but i'm sure he would have gone higher if he could have gotten the liability waiver and no money for state and local.

I seem to remember a first negotiationing stance that was higher than the "targeted" or "skinny" stimulus.

I think this is close to it, ~1t, has liability protection but no aid to state/local govt. Iirc there was talk like only 30 or so Senate Rs would back it (Ds obvi didn't at the time), then McConnell went to the lower number to preserve a strong caucus stance on the issue.

mnuchin talked higher numbers, but there was never any support in the senate.

Not that this level of detail matters all that much, but pretty sure there was a larger opening stance (1t to 1.2t) from McConnell prior to Mnuchin getting involved heavily (1.8t talks). And yes, the R Senators had even less stomach for what Mnuchin was negotiating.

That first stance also really needed bipartisan support to pass, hence the "skinny" bill or whatever, which also couldn't pass the Senate because it didn't get bipartisan support to overcome the filibuster, but was able to get more R Senators.

Is Pelosi really demanding in-person voting for selecting the next speaker?

If so

Doesn't the remote voting provision have to be authorized by the new congress?
