I cant believe 15% of the state have a felony on their record
Same, that's crazy

Offshoot of the draconian and racist  “we will bring them to heel” Clinton sentencing legislation.

That seems pretty difficult to blame any one person, but yes Democrats have had a pretty terrible record of building and supporting our terrible "criminal justice" system.

Resident LibBot favorite Joe Biden:  Huge “we will bring them to heel” supporter.

I think whoever started the "war on drugs" got the ball rolling pretty nicely but nobody has done crap about it since. I one party or individual is going to point the finger at another party or individual they are going to look like rough ridin' idiots doing it.

You always get very defensive when Joe “never met a war he didn’t want” Biden gets brought into the equation.

What a night!

Best part was the spectacular gain by Pubs in the Senate. +4?! Heller disappoints in NV, but the GOP has a real shot as knocking off Tester in MT! These gains are huge for Trump continuing his streak of sterling judicial appointments. Yay rule of law!

Another bright spot - FL and OH governor wins which will be important for 2020 redistricting in these all important swing states.

Losing House to Dems a mild disappointment. Glad it wasn’t a Blue Wave. We learned that The Resistance  couldn’t hold the Tea Party’s collective jock strap. So as I said last night, San Fran Nan’s gonna have just enough of a majority to put their crazy on full display, not enough to do much meaning except investigate, investigate, investigate! Expect some very frustrated activists. The big question is, will the Dems impeach Trump? I think almost certainly, against the wishes of the party leadership. Expect Mueller to finish his report and conclude that there is no evidence of Russian Colluion, but suggesting that Trump did something with the appearance of being wrong that legal experts on the left will scream is Obstruction!!!! and legal experts on the right will correctly argue is not obstruction. So the Dems will impeach, narrowly, and it will cost them bigley in 2020 because Americans will see this for the sham it is.

Biggest disappointment is Kansas. Sigh, Kansas. What are we gonna do with you, you effed up state full of politically confused people where I live? Yes, the GOP legislature majority became slightly more conservative last night (more on that in a bit), but with Governor Kelly the floodgates are open for a coalition of the Dems and the Fake Republicans to pass Medicaid Expansion plus bloated budgets full of other crap we can’t afford, like even more money to “fully fund” education. This same coalition will then “reluctantly” agree we need some more tax increases. The Gov will also replace 3-4 SC judges, ensuring a liberal supermajority for a generation. Emboldened, expect much more craziness from the robes, including a right to abortion in the KS Constitution. If it even occurs to them (it probably won’t), the “moderate” Pub voters who enabled all this will just shake their head and say “that’s why I wanted Colyer.”

Still, all in all a decent night.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

We might give poor people basic healthcare and actually fund our schools is so politically confusing for a moderate such as myself.

These liberal judges that we have had for at least a decade are going to find that abortion is a right guaranteed by the Kansas constitution now, though.

Libderp7 analysis: pretty clear that the suburbs have joined their city brethren in opposing trump but rural America appears to be getting dumber and more racist. The next two years should be even more wild than the last two.
