I don't think Mike Stoops will be an FBS head coach ever again.  I'm not sure he'll get another DC job unless it's under Mark or Bob.

List with KSU/NDSU connections (I hope they cast a much wider net than this)

Highly unlikely but would try:
Bob Stoops - Maybe he is pissed Lincoln fired his brother and would want revenge? I think he left OU because he knew he raised expectations to where he could get fired for an 8-4 season.  If he wants less of that crap, KSU could be for him
Mark Stoops - Would have to want out of the SEC/Kentucky.  Never coached here but coached with Bob/Mike/Dimel/Leavitt.  Could possibly bring in Jim Leavitt as DC with their past.  If he has success, I wouldn't be surprised to see him back to a bigger SEC program in 3-4 years and Leavitt taking over.
Venables
Harbaugh - I heard his wife is from around here

More likely
Kleiman - NDSU head coach
Leavitt
Bert
Sean - Will at least get an interview.  I don't think he has a real shot at it unless Bill was leaving the program with a positive trajectory.

Leavitt makes the most sense.  Good recruiting contact in FL and west coast, he wants to come to K-State, and knows how the program has operated successfully.  Anyone else will be the Ron Prince + notebooks thing (except Venables, who won't be coming back to Manhattan anytime soon).

i'd rather have a young hot shot coach, with leavitt as a DC, so he can focus more on tweeting

I would not like a Gus Bradley hire.  He has zero FBS coaching experience.

I'm not sure how I feel about Gus Bradley, but his  FBS coaching experience is of no consequence to me. Those NFL guys tend to be very well connected within the sport and I think he'd be able to put a really good staff together. Although the NFL to college thing has had wildly varying degrees of success with no seemingly detectable pattern as to who'll be successful and who'll not be.

I'm not advocating for Bradley just saying that if this ends this season, he'll be a leading candidate for sure. Maybe the top candidate without Snyder ties.

I was never really good with Leavitt until recently.

1. He's not a Snyder
2. He honestly might be the best we can do, and would emphasize recruiting at least.
3. I thought Venzy stated he didn't want to follow Snyder, so maybe like 3 or 4 years of Leavitt and then BV? lol doubt it, but I'll go with it.

Yeah,  FBS experience is just a prerequisite for me.  As is coordinating at the P5 level.

And just to be on the record I also would be content with the shnoz. :nerd:
Fifteen minutes later, when the Kansas locker room opened its doors to the media, the Jayhawks were still crying. Literally, bawling. All of them. Did someone just post a list with Dimel and Chuck Long on it?

We are seeing, this year, what it is like to have a staff full of "Snyder Tree" guys, and it aint pretty.

Give me someone who isnt afraid to become innovative, to spread the field, to actually know how to run a 2 minute drill, to actually disguise blitzes, That recruits, that doesn't play 10 yards off the ball and let teams quick slant them to death, blah blah blah blah........endless, endless blah blah

I want someone who will do more on the sideline than toss a pen on the ground.

Someone who will play a better athlete, cause he is better, than a walk-on who gives 100% effort.

Thats what I want

IMO the following constraint will be put on any possible coaching search:

* Coached or played under LHC Bill Snyder

Including this limitation (among others) I think the possible candidates are then only:

Jim Leavitt
Brent Venebles
Sean Snyder
Bert Bielma
Dana Dimel
Chuck Long
Mike Stoops
Mike Ekeler
Bob Stoops (but c'mon that's not happening)

(I might be missing someone...)

LOL, Gene isn't limiting his search to "Snyder Guys" that's preposterous. That list is ridiculous and I think you know that. There are three guys on that list who will come close to meriting consideration.

I want you guys to think about this name, not sure I've ever seen him mentioned, but he coached at NDSU under Bohl, Gus Bradley. I think if Gene Taylor hires the next football coach, he'll hire Gus Bradley.
I 100% think the search will be limited to Snyder-guys.

I tell you what, let's make a  friendly bet.  $100 to Fatty's Fund if it's a Snyder-guy or not.  Double if it's Gus or Sean.

One of the (MANY!) great things about Bielema is that he is both a Snyder guy and also not a Snyder guy.

I’d take the bet if the Snyder guys list excludes the actually desirable ones.

I believe 100% of the guys considered will have Snyder ties or NDSU ties.

I do not want to make any bets, though. Cause I still feel like I don't have a read on the mustang and he could rear up and do something crazy.
