Bringing a gaggle of left winged whackoadoos to Wichita isn't gonna get you, and is likely to drive away, the moderate pub voters you need to win that district.

I remember someone going down to the rally and talking about how stupid bringing a far left socialist into Kansas was because socialism isn't that popular....

....in a right leaning district. Socialism is hella popular among Dems. Always has been. They’re just finally coming out of the shadows.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

I think the strategy, if there is a strategy, was to bring them in early to aid with voter registration, but early enough so that the visit is largely forgotten by the time most voters actually start paying attention.

Or, alternatively, maybe the deserved vandalization of any really rich person's yacht should be celebrated regardless of how good they are at their jobs or what their political beliefs are.

i don't think that is a widely shared viewpoint, chum1.  personally, i agree with ruhle that property should not be pointlessly destroyed.

not sure if you disagree with pointlessly or destroyed.  i'll agree to substitute unjustifiably for pointlessly, if you prefer.  i think destroyed is accurate as destruction does not imply complete destruction, but i'd be ok with substituting damaged, degraded or impaired if you like.

I think we can safely assume this was a political act. obviously it was illegal, you are free to disagree with the message or the method, but pointless is just inaccurate. And it was remarkably effective in its reach and targeted a very unsympathetic figure in a way that made the theater part of the message ("adrift" "yacht" etc.)

Vandalism, along with riots, has its place when it comes to getting people to notice certain causes

while i don't object to grounding the discussion in the case of the devos yacht, you may recall that my statement was in response to chum1's assertion that the vandalism of any yacht should be celebrated.

That yacht was paid for with Amway money, so it’s just really hard for me to care if somebody sets it adrift.

Progressive economic policy  :Woot:

http://www.latimes.com/politics/la-pol-ca-road-map-poverty-report-20180729-story.html

Quote
Its political leaders and a credulous national media present California as the “woke” state, creating an economically just, post-racial reality. Yet in terms of opportunity, California is evolving into something more like apartheid South Africa or the pre-civil rights South. California simply does not measure up in delivering educational attainment, income growth, homeownership, and social mobility for traditionally disadvantaged minorities.

LOL California does not have a progressive economic policy...Prop 13 (a conservative measure which severely limits property taxes) completely mumped education spending and primarily benefits the wealthy and hurts the poor. (Also makes housing cost way more)

Quote
Chu and Uhler validate some common notions about Proposition 13. One is that it's been a particular boon to wealthier Californians. "Because higher-income households own more, higher-value homes and Proposition 13 tax relief is proportionate to home wealth," they observe. "The majority of Proposition 13 tax relief (in dollar terms) goes to higher-income households."

http://www.latimes.com/business/hiltzik/la-fi-hiltzik-prop-13--20160929-snap-story.html

it also means California spends way less on education than it should.

Quote
In 2015-16, California ranked 41st among all states in spending per K-12 student after adjusting for differences in the cost of living in each state (see table below).[2]  California schools spent $10,291 per K-12 student in 2015-16, which is about $1,900 less than the $12,252 per student spent by the nation as a whole.[3]  California’s spending per student in 2015-16 was about $2,000 higher than it had been in 2012-13, at which point California ranked 50th in the nation.

Oppressive income taxes, draconian regulations on business and an ever expanding welfare state = progressive economic policy.

Sorry bro, regurgitated leftist garbage from that one dweeb regarding country club property tax is a drop in the bucket.

Claiming Cali as some conservative economic policy failure is easily more libtarded than Betsy Devos deserved to have her yaught sent adrift.

The libtard dedication to the double (triple?) non-sequiter that public education spending is directly correlated to economic prosperity is pretty libtarded too.

LOL California sure has its share of problems but getting businesses to come here and pay high wages sure as hell isn't one of them
