i'm not just surprised that you'd consider trump against anyone, i'm surprised bloomberg would be a candidate that you'd find uniquely unpalatable.

I don't know much about him other than that his ban on soda sizes is not a good look for how he values individual liberty. I don't really see a path to him winning so I haven't really looked into his platform. It's probably better than Trump's, but maybe it's not.

we're usually pretty much on the same page politically, which is why it surprised me. some of the stuff that has come out about bloomberg since he entered the race makes me like him less than i did a month ago and i don't think he'd be the best candidate against trump, but i'd have no problem voting for him in a general election. he was an effective and honest public servant as mayor of nyc and i suspect he'd be the same as president.

your point about reelection chances is interesting, but it's hard to get too worked up about projections five years out.

Not all of them made a career off of it via politics, dumb dumb. They had previous business success or other avenues that got them to where they were.

I think it's mostly overreaction to disappointing things like learning about his support of "stop and frisk" and prior knowledge of his regulation of the soda industry. I'm pretty sure that by November I would come to the conclusion that he's better than Trump. It's really hard not to be. I just don't like him and would rather have someone else. Bernie isn't ideal, either, but I've already come to terms that he will probably win and I will vote for him over Trump. Biden is the best case scenario, imo, but that isn't happening.

If you are talking about Bernie, he's remarkably poor for someone as old and successful as he is who hasn't needed any sort of assisted living. It's a pretty good indication that he doesn't know what he is talking about regarding the budget.

Watching the longer clip, wow. That seems incredibly dishonest of Pendarvis. It’s one thing to post a clip out of context, but completely making up a story about it is pretty awful.

I'm good with him, I frequently find myself siding with him when he gets into these random spats with people. He's in the unique and unenviable position of having both black people and white people feeling very comfortable taking racist shots at him. I legitimately wish I could shoot everyone who calls him Martin Luther Cream. I definitely sided with him on the controversy with Deray. I like Deray a lot, but Shaun had his receipts in order, literally and figuratively.

Didn't read the entire article but did they do the research on, an incredibly unlikable moderate who ran a horrendous campaign, or just a moderate? I can't imagine Bernie is going to be more intolerable than what many people saw with Clinton. Assuming that trump hasn't expanded his base, the math really should be how much Bernie will be expected to expand the Democrat base + the number of people who voted for trump in '16 who were neverhillary but who are now nevertrump - the number of people who will vote for trump because they can't stomach Bernie.

I'll also point out, maybe they did, but not voting for Bernie seems like a much easier proposition when, in theory, there's still a possibility of getting to vote for a moderate. 5-7 months of Bernie vs. Trump will be much more kindly to Bernie than what we have now which is Trump vs the field vs Bernie.
