I think Bernie would be completely ineffective as president at getting congress to do anything. I don't care for his policies much, but he doesn't worry me for that reason. At least he isn't evil.

IMO he does a good job influencing voters who in theory can influence congress. He could certainly shift the national conversation in what I would consider a positive direction even more than he already has.

you would think by this point she would understand this makes her look bad and hurts her legacy more than it helps, but then she wouldn't be Hillary.

Her legacy is trash no matter what she does.

On the previous note I think Bernie is a good person but would divide the country even more than it already is. We need a warm moderate blanket in times like this.

If the Obama presidency sparked Trumpism, I don't want to imagine what would result from a Bernie presidency.

I'd like to think that Trump is an amalgam of things that can't be replicated.  That might be my denial though.

Bernie would result in whatever Trump hangers-on or children taking a shot at it.

I think this is right, and really would be all you could ask for during a Bernie presidency, which wouldn’t be so bad. Like SD though, my pref would be a competent moderate who pushes to get common sense stuff done so that people on both sides of the aisle have to stop being so comfortable with gridlock.

Bloomberg is the guy:  Climate Alarmist-Check.   Likely to bend over big time to China, but it’s okay he’s a (D)-Check.  Symbolic (but ultimately meaningless) sanctions on Russia to put the New NeoCons at ease-Check.  Highly unlikely to issue repeated Stand Down orders in the face of Russian aggression-Check.  Good understanding of business so likely to destroy the US’s energy independence at a much slower pace then other Dem candidates-Check.  Proud advocate of the nanny state-Check.

Bloomberg 2020

I don't think we will ever get rid of the gridlock. Presidents don't get more moderate than Obama and congress wouldn't work with him on anything.

yeah Obama honestly tried to compromise as much as possible and no one on the right budged an inch and we got trump. The republicans will treat Biden or Bloomberg like they're commies.

Another positive that Bernie could influence is foreign policy. IMO he's the only one who would take steps to ending dumb wars we're always fighting.

Obama pretty much started out his presidency by trying to completely reform the healthcare system, FTR.

He compromised all the way to using the healthcare system that Mitt Romney ran his campaign on.

Well he didn’t compromise with any Republicans, that’s for sure.

Or if he did he is a pretty crappy deal maker considering none voted for it.

I don't think a good deal maker would make a deal for a vote he doesn't need.
