Warren and her husband are worth over $10 mill, own multiple houses, and live a very extravagant lifestyle.

While Charlie is a complete dumbshit, he's not far off
What sorts of things do Mr. and Mrs. Warren do as part of their very extravagant lifestyle?

Things? The same things rich people and most politicians do?
Oh sorry, the way you were talking, I figured you had some specific insight. My bad, carry on.

Liz has regular drawings to allow her supporters to have a beer with her. Just travels across the country for a damned beer, all willy nilly.

Her old ass husband and her are worth $10m too. All this time she’s let people believe she was middle class when in actuality she was UPPER middle class. smh

I know, it's wild how much these candidates have been private jetting up the environment.

They’ve been successful, and live the life of successful and now busy people and there is nothing wrong with it.

Claiming they don’t would be silly, though

Who has done that? You can't be rich and think rich people should pay more taxes than non rich people?

Of course you’re right but it made me curious so I looked it up. $5 million net worth makes you a 1%er https://www.thebalance.com/american-net-worth-by-state-metropolitan-4135839

Warren should put all her money in a trust fund and designate THE AMERICAN PEOPLE as the beneficiaries if she really believes what she says.

Haha, you absolutely can, man.

Honest question, though. Because I admittedly haven't studied her much (being dead serious, so don't laugh). Does Warren consider herself rich? Seems like most of her ideas attack and include taxing the extremely rich (.01%) but not the really rich (1%ers, her/her husband).

I'm sure her plans include raising taxes across the board, I just haven't seen any brackets or heard any quotes from her.

Her plans call for tax increases on all Americans with a net worth of $50 million +, this is estimated to be about 30,000 households. She also advocates for a reformed corporate tax structure.

BTW for those wondering how $10 million compares to the rest of the country, there are about 20 million millionaires in America.

While I admittedly don't care about this Liz money thing, there's a big difference between a net worth of 1M and 10M. This board has several millionaires, no doubt. Not sure about 10M-aires, though. 10M should be enough to never worry about money again. 1M, not so much.

I found this list of candidates by worth, but there's no way this is correct.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/danalexander/2019/08/14/heres-the-net-worth-of-every-2020-presidential-candidate/#56cfecb837c5

Some seem really high, some seem very low. Marianne Williamson seems like it's off by a whole zero. She's had 7 books on the NYT Best Seller List. Did she have a bad crack habit? Pete also seems to be low by a zero. Did Bennet really get that rich working in the private sector for only 6 years?

so, buttigieg has agreed to allow a press pool member into his fundraisers and release names of bundlers.  afaik, the campaign hasn't released anything yet (beyond the work history summary put out a couple of days ago), but mckinsey agreed to release him from the nda today and that info will presumably be out before too long.

warren hasn't released her pre-2008 taxes, but did release the compensation info that has been discussed in this thread today.

good job, everybody.

I mean anyone nearing retirement age really should have a $1 million + net worth. It’s pretty tough to accumulate $10 million by bootstrapping alone, though. That’s saving up $100k/year for 100 years (yeah I know the market actually does the heavy lifting here).

My theory of the race is pretty simple.

There are a lot of candidates that have zero shot in this race:
gillibrand, klobuchar, buttigeg (sp?), castro, hickenlooper, yang, gabbard, inslee

then there are people that have some sort of shot:
booker, warren, sanders, harris

of those 4, we can pretty clearly divide them in to 2 groups:
warren/bernie- DNC would not like to win
booker/harris- DNC would like to win

harris is going to have much more appeal to actual voters than Booker's bizarre complete lack of a platform bromides and he will get hit hard by even Harris on Wall St. stuff

Bernie has built his own fundraising base and has a whole infrastructure from his last run that will overwhelm warren even if she surprises in Iowa

do you want me to talk about Biden?  He has no shot, he is going to get completely destroyed from all sides.
Abrams/Beto? let's wait for the roll out, but I would say Beto has the higher name ID and a slightly better shot, but I don't think he will be able to work his schtick for the whole time without getting in to policy at some point and I don't think his fundraising or style of politics will be nearly as appealing in a big dem primary as opposed to against someone as despicable as Ted Cruz in a place where he got tons of outside money from people trying to grab a Texas Senate seat. I just don't see it.

Checking In---

Biden much more resilient than originally thought. Booker/Harris irrelevant. Still lots of uncertainty.

nationally, there is a clear trend where warren has fallen and biden, sanders and buttigieg have all benefited.  there haven't been in any high quality early state polls for a while, it'll be interesting to see the next ones.  cbs early states should be out soon, at the very least.

Really? That's it? Hell, that's not even an accomplishment. Having half your mortgage paid off should put just about every American in that group.
