since you mention being from nebraska as optional, i assume you're talking presidential candidate rather than senate.  i think we'll probably be surprised by who ends up running in 2024, so it's hard to suggest alternatives.

personally, i would only consider people that didn't enable trump to run rampant through our government.  that seems like a very low bar, but i guess it's possible to place it even lower.
