So, the Altidore to Sunderland rumor is picking up steam. Apparently a formal offer has been made.

meh...would of liked him to be at a team playing in Europe, but if he can make noise in the EPL then it won't be long until he moves up the food chain.

also apparently the USSF allocated the biggest number of seats of any WCQ game ever to the American Outlaws for US v Mexico in Columbus. should be an amazing atmosphere.

I want him to go to Newcastle. Nice mid-table side with little relegation threat. He could play the Demba Ba role there. He'd definitely fit in IMO.

The US team is going to need some real talent to be able to contend for anything in all honesty. They've got Dempsey, and that's about it.

Who the eff is this guy?

A terrible troll. Dempsey isn't even the most talented player on the team. It's Michael rough ridin' Bradley.

Pretty close between him and Howard. We should also remember that Jozy is still only 23. More like meSUCKwilliams.

I tend to agree. I think Howard is a very good goal keeper, but he gets massively overrated by our fanbase. Brad Guzan is not far behind him at all.

gotta disagree. howard is a top talent. just like keller was. just like friedel was. maybe not to the extent of those two, but he is a great keeper. he has been the only bright spot during this defensive transition we have been going through, and has kept us in positions to win.

Agreed, but I still think Tim gets overrated. I have a good friend who thinks he's the best player on the team; has been even when Donovan was playing still. :dubious:

FWIW, I think Friedel was (is) the best of all American keepers.

it's a close call between keller and friedel, but i'd definitely agree.

You mean besides getting relegated in 2009 and finishing 16th last season?

I think Jozy should stay 1 more year at AZ. He's comfortable there, plays and scores regularly, which is more important leading up to the World Cup. If he bosses in Brazil he could go to a bigger Premiership club.

yeah. the worst thing that could happen is for him to go somewhere and completely lose his confidence/rhythm because he doesn't get enough playing time or is on a team that misuses him.

I disagree with all of that. And Newcastle was in turmoil in 2009. They're back now. Don't forget they finished like 6th in 2012. Last year, they were dealing with losing Demba Ba among other things (and were 5 points clear of relegation). They will be mid-table next season.

Also, he would get significant minutes at either Newcastle or Sunderland with the way he is playing.

Jozy to Sunderland.  Pretty good fit IMO.  Hopefully he does better than his stint at Hull.

2nd half lineup was pretty fun to watch.  great to see 6 goals by 5 different players.  mir is right - we were good for 10 or so tonight.  I can't even recall guatemala putting a single ball on frame.

why does kyle beckerman exist btw?

Yup played very well vs a bad Guatemala side, it was what I wanted: a fun entertaining Yank win.

Also Bekerman is the most puzzling call up. I am just glad Jürgy stopped bringing him in with the A squad.
