I'm not a Berhalter hater but that roster is a rough ridin' disaster. Roldan over Malik Tillman is wild. I think JMo is unfairly maligned but Arriola absolutely outplayed him. Pefok should be on this roster. Aaron Long shouldn't be in the same galaxy as this roster.

Agree on the Tillman miss. Arriola v Morris is kind of a funny debate. Really, the only time either of them are getting time is straight hustle/press moments when we need to go hard at goal. Which case I can see the benefit of Morris over Arriola in that he has more experience in that role and can even sub in up top if things got terrible.

The whole Haji thing is wild. I read an article on Pefok the other day and didn't realize he doesn't speak english. Haji's history with some of our more important players and general fit had to of been the straw that broke that camel's decision. Just super strange that the only Haji we got was in absolute crap conditions that completely took the game away from him. Not sure how you don't vet his abilities and fit out more in qualifying, but that's GGG for ya. I also think Haji prototypically fills the 9 role in GGG's system a little better than Pefok. All that said, i don't think GGG is going to really play anyone other than Jesus or maybe Weah up there unless it's a feed balls in the box situation.

Straight up hate the Long pick. That dud shouldn't be anywhere near this team, but I'd be angrier about it if Ream wasn't selected. If Long starts, i'll be furious. Really crap that Richards isn't healthy, but it is what it is.

I'm off the ledge with the picks. I hate Roldan on the roster but with the MMA midfield healthy, he'll never play, and he's apparently a "locker room guy."

I'm good with Morris for the same reason I defended him during qualifying and the friendlies, we need a forward with pace, to come off the bench late.

I hate the long pick, I hate it even more that pundits are saying he's going start over Ream.

I drove by the McKennie billboard in Little Elm yesterday and it got me pumped for the WC to start.

I’m glad they’re going to jump all over that investigation of an incident that happened 32 years ago between a couple that’s been together for 3 decades.

Seems very productive.

he kicked her in the legs!

(*i've never kicked a woman, and i don't endorse it, but i have to admit there is something funny to me about Soccer Guy kicking a woman in the legs.  And there's also the 30 years ago thing.)

Seems weird, like everybody assumed he'd be fired, so there is no need to dig this up?

they said his contract expired at the end of the year so he was/is effectively fired...or do u think they were thinking about extending him before this hit?

Yeah I sort of cynically thought maybe someone with us soccer brought it up as extra reason to let him go, but I don't think that's the case

here's the other shoe
https://www.espn.com/soccer/united-states-usa/story/4844539/reynas-told-us-soccer-about-past-gregg-berhalter-domestic-violence-incident-sources

Yeah, when us soccer announced the investigation this seemed like the inevitable result given all the circumstances. I was hoping this want going to be the case, it's sad, I really feel bad for Geo and Gregg's wife. I'm not a #berhalterout guy, but he really mumped up by first having the team all individually crap on Geo and second by talking about Geo to the people at that conference. Needless to say, what the Reyna's did was absolutely not the way to handle their grievances.

I don't know why soccer seems to be so messy with crap like this.

I can't believe how similar the USMNT is to youth soccer.

it's not like there's a large pool of americans who have been successful at high levels.  they either bring in the foreigners (which they tried with klinsmann) or they keep the current bunch

But how will all of the cronies and friends get theirs if you do that?

yeah but even the upper admin is ex-players Earnie Stewart and whatnot.

i mean you could bring in some non-soccer bureaucrats, but that's probably no good either

It would be fine. There are plenty of people they could hire outside of guys who played or coached the USMNT in the 90's and early 2000s.
