Yep we are way worse at international soccer now that we've been pouring money into youth soccer for a while now

Need to dump Beckerman and Wondo for sure.  I'd love to see us move away from Brooks too.  FabJo I'm not sure about either.  He needs better players around him. Brinbaum, woof.

Brooks and Fabian had good tournaments, bad games today. Beckerman is a zero. Wondo is awful. Yedlin is fast. Pusilic looks fun.

Maybe agree to disagree about Brooks and Johnson.  To me they had okay tournaments, don't recall much good or bad through most game.  Obviously you have to be stellar against Argentina, and today they were bad.

Also Bradley is really good at lame duck passes.

Justify your comments.  At best he needs other solid players around him to keep his level of play up.  At worst you have nights like tonight where his collapse on defense led directly to goals.

And on the 3rd goal he totally blows his coverage for no reason at all (not like the 4th goal where he had was in a 2 on 1 and mumped either way).

I'm not saying he isn't going to be good, I'm not saying he can't improve.  But he showed a total mental collapse in this game on this play and a few others.  I'll fully grant that he had some plays where he was screwed either way because the worst play of the night was our midfield
((Defensive, Beckerman and Bradley when he was dropping back).

John Brooks had a bad game vs the best attack in the world. He was the Man of the Tournament rest of the games, has been our best defender for 3 years now, and is one of our most thriving players abroad during club seasons.

Yeah, I don't like agreeing with scottwildcat, but to deny the fact that Brooks was one of our top performers over the course of the tournament and that, as a 23 year old, he is a key piece in the future of the USMNT is ridiculous.

Really disappointed with the lack of hot takes being espoused in this thread. Really thought people were gonna go all Alexi Lalas on us and call for Jurgen's head.

Alexi has been doing nothing but calming the waters since the first goal last night

Meh beating Ecuador was good. This honestly was to be expected. I wish we put up more of a fight and got some shots but I'm not melting down over this.

Can't seem to find it. Basically called this performance a disgrace and that there was nothing positive to take away from it (all pretty true), but I started to tune out when he basically said that the rest of the tournament didn't matter after a result like this  :blah: :blah: :blah:

As long as he shows even this most minor of incremental improvement.

First thing is to overhaul to midfield and then we'll get some better idea of what they can do.  But yesterday they had some monumental collapses (as did the whole team).  But when you drop basic coverages and look lost, I don't know.  Yes they had some bright spots, but there have been multiple games where our back line has just looked lost on responsibilities,  recognizing the opposition's organization, and totally blowing simple marking.
