A friend at the Royals watch party after seeing KSU, Chiefs, Royals lose, knowing I hadn't watched USA/Mex saved me the heartache of watching it on DVR. Glad he did but I'm watching it now anyways.

I didn't read asava's long posts but did he address his inconsistent talking points of:
1. Jürgen isn't as successful because American soccer because we aren't as advanced as more successful countries.
2. Landon is a dumbass for wanting to elevate expectations

The bottom line is that US Soccer isn't measurably better and Jürgen has fell short of his stated goals. What about that spells out success?

Didn't say Jurgen's stint so far has been a success (even though I think WC 2014 was). There seems to be a lot that needs to flesh out before he's considered a success, such as his revamping of US youth systems. I just disagree with the "fire jurgen" chatter.

Jurgen can't win because we have no talent.

FFS Jurgen you get worse every day

Klinsmann is great for American soccer, give him more time  When he gets fired all of the stories that come out about how everyone hates him will be amazing. He is also the type that will absolutely light every bridge on fire on his way out.

I had been on the fence on Jürgen but after the Gold Cup CONCACAF Cup, and all his issues with players and idiotic statements since last summer I am no longer wanting him around.

First three match home losing streak since 1997. Progress.

I was a little scared of firing a coach so close to a WCQ but now's the time. As stated by Twellman on the broadcast as of now we have no idea who will be starting at any of the 11 starting positions, not even keeper. For the first time in any of our soccer watching lifetimes, we don't even have a reliable core of players. That isn't an indictment on the players, it can't be an indictment on the players when we have as deep of a pool as we have ever had.

Fire Jürgen

From what of that match I saw, this is a very loose definition of "taking care of business," we didn't look good.

you must have an odd definition of taking care of business.  Chips were down in a must win and they walked out (of an embarrassingly empty Rio Tinto that made KU/Baylor look full) with a 2-0 result.

This is really bad considering how many of the players were "Jurgen's guys". He can't even manage the dual citizens he managed to talk into playing for the USA.

Well since I am the only person in the conversation that watched the match, I'll summarize for you. We threatened a few times in the first half but nothing that put Canada in any real danger, we forced the keeper to make a few saves but they were routine. The end of the first half Canada had a guy sent off with a second yellow, both yellows were legit. We opened the second half and looked much like we did in the first which was not inspiring even though Canada was a man down. Pelosi had a very nice goal sometime around the 70th minute. After the goal we looked the best all night because Canada had to loosen up even a man down. The second goal was somewhere around the 85th on a pk after a completely bogus card on the Canadian keeper. It was 2-0 but it was far from pretty, I didn't see the Honduras match but we couldn't have played any better than we did in that match. We got the job done but it was far from an even solid performance.
