asava do you watch MLS? (this is an unrelated question)

Not a ton. Mostly watch Champions League matches when I get the chance.

asava I'm not a Jürgen hater. I'm not, but with that Gold Cup showing and how this team has been since, he should be fired if we lose on Saturday.

Yeah exactly. The WC where Jurgen had one good game and got absolutely run off the field by Belgium. No better than Bob Bradley.

If you don't think the WC 2014 run was a success, then we obviously are on different pages. Alls I'm saying is that he has performed, and done so better than anyone else that we have had. Losing games during the Gold cup while experimenting with line-ups, trying new players, and developing young ones is a terrible excuse to want to fire a guy who is completely restructuring and reorganizing American soccer.

Experimenting with lineups and trying unproven players in the Gold Cup should have never happened imo. Outside of the group stages at least.

Why? Seriously, I do not care about winning the Gold Cup. The only purpose it serves is to formulate and prepare for the World Cup. JK has obviously used it to experiment, and I think he's right to do it so long as he is working on long term success. He walked into a team of players that, for the most part, was or were soon to be over the hill. He's made a pretty straightforward effort to get younger and to get those younger players time in bigger situations.

So I guess you and JK also don't care about the Confederations Cup either? Why do you care about overall winning percentage if literally all you care about is the WC?

Not saying it's a bad thing. I thinks it's good to have a difference of opinion in these threads. But you are in a small majority of Jurgen supporters.

I used winning percentage to show that people who share opinions similar to LD10 are off base and unfair in their assessment/expectation of JK and the job he has been tasked with. I also find it infinitely funny that American fans demand that we win anything in soccer just because they recently started following MLS and think that we are a legitimate soccer nation. We aren't. We could be, but that change doesn't happen overnight, and we are closer to that goal due to the work and progress JK has made. I'm not saying he's perfect, nor am I saying that he makes all the right decisions, but I am saying that he generally knows more about soccer than any USA soccer fan/player/coach before him. People droning on about his terrible coaching and the results he gets seem to be unrealistic and out of touch with what he has actually done with the team, and a good example of that is his win percentage, which doesn't say everything about his teams performances, but generally is a pretty good benchmark when comparing to other coaches who have dealt with similar, if not easier tasks.

U23s lost to Honduras, must now win the 3rd place game and then beat Columbia to make the olympics. This is a rough ridin' travesty. Very well could be the second straight Olympics without the men's team.

Especially since it is a very good team. Easily better than last Olympics.

I didn't read asava's long posts but did he address his inconsistent talking points of:
1. Jürgen isn't as successful because American soccer because we aren't as advanced as more successful countries.
2. Landon is a dumbass for wanting to elevate expectations

The bottom line is that US Soccer isn't measurably better and Jürgen has fell short of his stated goals. What about that spells out success?
