If JK does get ousted after this cycle, his legacy will be for what follows, imo. I think he's really improved our youth programs. There's quite a few young guys people think of as potential future stars (not just for our national team, either) like dobberjr, Zelalem, Green or Carter-Vickers. If they meet expectations eventually, he'll be thought of more fondly. Obviously if they don't turn out then it'll just be more ammo against his tenure.

This may be the most idiotic thing Jürgen has said. Pro/Rel wouldn't work in the current set up of MLS and would result in lawsuits from recent new owners who payed outrageous amounts of money for a top flight team. Also could you imagine what would happen to fan support for the Chicago Fire if they got relegated? They'd be playing in front of 1200 fans, and the single entity and salary cap system would be absolutely horrendous in a Pro/Rel system. I think we could see a small 3 league pyramid with Pro/Rel in 15-20 years maybe if that is a true desire by the USSF and MLS and they started taking the steps necessary to build that into the plan, but any sooner could be a disaster.

Although his reasoning for wanting it is all true, adding competition at the bottom of the league and the entertainment value of a relegation battle is true, I still just thing Pro/Rel is so far off of being a realistic possibility that it is stupid to even bring it up.

i mean, he also says this in the article so it's not like he doesn't understand the reality of the situation:

Quote
"This thrill of the relegation battle is non-existent in the U.S. league. The risk for club investors to all of a sudden play in the second league would be too high."

Yeah yeah yeah I know. I decided to try to be mean to Jürgy like everyone else does but I tried to force it too hard.

Admittedly, I don't know a lot about the way the MLS is setup (single entity, protects owners, players sign with league is about as much as I know), but is it possible for the MLS to acquire the NASL and begin building plans for a relegation system in the future? With Traffic Sports coming under fire it has made the whole NASL's future uneasy, so it seems like a good time if something were going to happen. MLS experts tell me why this is stupid and would never work.

Like, for instance, if SKC was relegated, fan support and TV ratings would be absolutely zero.  League is too young - fledgling fan base.  better players will result in better competitiveness.

DOD Take 2 (friend) MLS and NASL hate each other and any sort of cooperation is long in the future.

Yes, the fact that SKC has been highly successful on the field is the second most important factor in the club's overall success behind the stadium imo.
