Who are some young talented players we should be watching for '18 for the US? Players not on this years squad specifically.

Gedion Zelalem and Shawn Parker not eligible but could be

Why not?

I guess I worded that wrong. Both have only appeared for German youth squads. I'd prefer to not turn this into a FIFA eligibility/one time switch discussion.

EDIT: I'm pretty sure to play for us, they'd need to file their one-time switch even though they've only appeared for youth squads. (making them currently "not eligible")

Thanks. Didn't mean to detail, just curious. I hope Jurgen can recruit them, too.

The future definitely seems bright for the USMNT.

Do whatever is necessary to improve the roster and team as long as Yedlin is still there. He's my favorite.

We need more Yedlin types to turn to soccer. High level athletes who are a little too small for football and basketball. I mean for every Darren Sproles there's got to be at least 100 more of that type who never get a shot at college ball. If they'd turn to soccer in their middle school years when it's obvious they'll never be very tall I'd say there's a pretty good chance at least as many could become high level soccer players as become high level football players.

Article from Bird. Pretty good list. About who I would have. And very close to what our very own s_c has been predicting. I am glad Zusi had his run this year because the more I look at the midfield talent pool objectively I do not see him making another go in '18. Hopefully he can have a good showing in the '15 Copa America and Gold Cup.

Diego Fagundezu has been rumored to be working towards citizenship. Has youth caps with Uruguay

Also Darlington Nagbee is working on citizenship. He is Liberian I believe. Neither are of the quality of Z-Man and Jul-Dawg but would be good guys to have in the pool

I still do a double take anytime I see Altidore is only 24.
