We are on the way to the bottom of the league. We don't have the horses to do better... others
Are surpassing us. Aside from maybe 5 players, we have zit puss. After next year, 3 will be gone. Does Oscar have quality players in the recruiting pipeline? Nope. I challenge anyone to show me a bright hopeful picture in 2 years.

I think.this year and next can be decent, but then I see no real hope. There could be a couple of good players left after Wade, Stokes, and Brown graduate. I see nothing to rebuild with soon after that. We had 5 scholarships to use last year for incoming freshmen. No real impact sophomores for next year have emerged. I don't think Weber is going to recruit impact players or coach anyone up. I reread Gene Taylor's comments last fall when a 2 year extension was made. Taylor loves Weber. So we are stuck with him. Optimism can only go so far. I guess I will enjoy now, so i have some pleasant thoughts to remember are available during the coming lean years.

Please someone give me reason for optimism past next year. This and next year will be fun. KU will be loaded next year and that will throw dog turds in our fan.

In two years, Sneed will be senior with essentially three years of starting experience. Diarra will be a junior point guard with tons of experience. Mawien will be a senior with two years of starting experience (it appears). There will be a drop-off, but I don't think it will be drop-off-a-cliff situation.

hopefully oscar will keep finding and signing guys like Barry/Wade/Sneed and find someone to recruit big men not made of glass.

If you have watched juco players transition to high major, many of them do not start to perform until their second year. Mawien is coming on now. In a year or two, he will be the best post man we have had in 25 years. Better than Gip and better than DJamer. (DJs injuries his last year lowered his level of play.)
Mawiens defense is already excellent.
He gets in foul trouble but is slowly improving in that area. If you remember Dean Wades first year, you know it takes a little while for a big man to learn how to be aggressive without fouling.
He will become a legitimate threat from three in the near future. (If he could not make a three, Weber would not allow him to take them.) Just needs to get used to taking them with 10,000 people and the pressure of a high measure game.

Wainright may also start coming on during the rest of the Big 12 season.
