sorry bud, this isn't the thread for Apple TV peeps.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

I don't get how this will sell. Why would you pay $5 per month for network streaming when you could just use your tv to get it in higher quality for free?

It can get pretty heavy to carry your television around with you.

Ahh wait, I do believe there is.

Guys, the natural history museum in Omaha just put one of those old HTPCs in the caveman exhibit next to the caveman family using a woodpecker to play records and another bird as a pair of scissors.

PS3+PlayOn is working pretty well for me.  I can watch my videos and stuff over 3G.
Where did you get that overnight bag?

The WDTV Live sure had a ton of "no's" in that chart. Sure would have hated to waste that much money. Glad I spent twice as much money and got about 3 times as many "yes's".

Looks a lot like Apple TV  :dunno: I also, agree with ew2x4. Either Google or Apple TV need to land ESPN3  pronto.

You've got major telecom providers all hurtling down the path of major IPTV service offerings . . . and expanding network integration and applications rolling out on new TV's . . . so long HTPC, you museum piece you.

You know what's great? Knowing that no matter what hardware I have, no matter what version I have, no matter what brand I go with, I will always have everything, and I'll have it before everyone else.

This is probably true . . . and I forget to add, that as of right now, I am strictly Internet Content only . . . I either watch what I want to watch directly on my PC, or it has an HDMI port on it I can plug into the TV.   Upgraded the Internet connection to 6 Mbps, fastest I can get on DSL here right now.   Will not support Time Warner for many reasons.

Friend just bought a new Sammy 1080p LCD with a built in network connection.   Sampled some IP based stuff on it the other day, excellent picture quality, but he's going to have to upgrade his connection.

I know Google is slamming in fiber all over the place and buying all kinds of bandwidth from the Telco's . . . it's going to be fascinating to see how this all plays out.

Yeah, the google broadband thing is going to be an interesting one. Right now, the ISP's are the obvious weak link in the process to go all IPTV.A few hold out networks don't help matters either, though.
