How many detailed posts there are in the competitive youth sports thread.

I feel bad my daughters aren’t athletic, but I’m also relieved I don’t have to live that life. They are going to a high school with 800 kids in their class, so they’d never play high school sports anyway even if we dedicated hundreds of hours of their youth to development.

You know you're getting old when you get that AARP mailer and think that the free trunk organizer is pretty sweet.   :cyclist:

Sprained my ankle playing kickball three weeks ago. Could barely walk on it for the first week. Still is a nagging injury. Maybe it will be like this forever?  :dunno:
Update: still a slightly nagging injury. Looking like forever was a safe bet.

just a general soreness after physical activity on it. it will be fine but then I'll do something to aggravate it like go for a hike, play tennis, or walk nine holes. dunno, might be a footwear issue honestly.

When was the last time you really sprinted? Figured this goes more itt than the swole and fit cats one.

It’s been a tad over a year for me (a softball tournament), and even then not sure if I ever sprinted full out.

Pulled a hammy prob 10 years ago and have always been trepidatious since. Once pulled a calf just demonstrating starting out of a football stance for some flag footballers.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

The amount of anxiety this gives me about how it’s going to affect interstate commerce & the supply chain.

You’re also old enough to know that just gets you more wet.

I coach an absolute ass load of youth sports but when I sprint to catch a ball or outrun a defender my “hammies” irl get hurty. Thought it was a bit. Nope, no longer built for this apparently.

I'm lucky and my weight has not fluctuated more than 10lb since like HS. Granted, I've always worked out and eaten pretty healthy so that's a big part of it. If I ever got off track, I could easily put in a little extra work and shore up the diet a bit and lose the 5 or so pounds pretty quickly. Apparently those days are over. I put on a few toward the end of summer and for the past 4 weeks I've been eating better and a bit less and added a bit to my workouts. I actually feel a bit better and have noticed some results, but in the past, the 5 lbs would be gone in those 4 weeks. Just did my monday weigh in and I am officially 0.7lbs down in my 4 week journey.  :sdeek:

left daughter's soccer game yesterday, couldn't find my phone, knew it was on me but couldn't for the life of me find it.  it was on the lawnchair seat, packed in the lawnchair bag on the back of my truck.

I do this often with phone, glasses, billfold. So infuriating... I misplace stuff without leaving the room sometimes.

Similarly, I couldn't find the poop sack holder when I was getting ready to walk the dog. Loose rolls of poop sacks drive me nuts. I accused all the kids of not putting it back where it was supposed to be. Last night, it turned up in the pocket of my jacket where I had left it.

I do this too. I'll even remember that I sat whatever it is down someplace weird or different, but can't remember where. I'll eventually find it and wonder why in the world I put it there of all places.

Don’t know if the running I do during pickup basketball could be considered a sprint… maybe a very aggressive hustle would be the way to describe it.
