Apparently a kindergarten teacher thought it was her responsibility to teach kids about transgenders without parent's permission. The parents were miffed and fire in butt angry.  Teachers at the school thought it was great.  Kids need to be taught about diversity.
Horse manure.  Teach reading writing arithmetic, and leave moral teaching to parents.  One little girl came home crying cause she was afraid she would turn into a boy.  Making us live in this new world is one thing, but cramming it into our kids' brains is wrong.

teaching about transgender people isn't imposing morality

you're free to brainwash your kid with whatever morality you may deem, but just informing kids at an age-appropriate level that transgender people exist is 100% fine

My daughter came home crying and shaking so afraid she could turn into a boy," one parent told CBS News.

The school district defended the lesson -- saying the books were age-appropriate. The district also said under state law they are not required to notify parents when their children are being indoctrinated on gender identity. Additionally, the district said parents do not have the right to opt-out of the classroom discussions.
Lordy hallelujah I am glad I live in OzLand.  The Amish at Yoder would become violent if schools tdied to teach this stuff.  Why do schools think that they have to be at forefront of social engineering?  I'm for teaching not social brainwashing.

A Just Society. We believe public education is vital to building respect for the worth, dignity, and equality of every individual in our diverse society.
This core principal of the NEA sounds good on the surface, but is really the principle of the left called Social Justice, Lenin principles.
Teaching kids to be respectful and kind to everyone is fine.  My problem is trying to force kids to accept norms that are not believed by their parents.  The State or a teacher union has no business supplanting parental authority.

Actually, there are a lot of things I probably would be in favor of not teaching to Kindergarteners, like advanced chemistry or piloting aircraft.

How can you talk about transgender people without explaining the biological differences between males and females?

Kindergartners seem to understand boys and girls just fine without feeling the need to dive into biological differences

The kids had a classmate transition to their classmates in the middle of the school day and she read 2 kids books to them while having their classmate go change clothes.  There wasn't a ciriculum to teach about trans.  I get what the teacher was trying to do for a kid in her class, but it was poorly executed.  To think you can just read six year olds two books, then having a classmate that just transitioned walk in looking different without confusing the hell out of the students was pretty short-sided.

I have no problem having something done to talk to the kids about what's happening to their classmate.  But two books from the teacher, then a classmate reveal wasn't enough.  You'd think they'd pull in someone from the outside with experience with this.

I also don't get what the parents wanted to "opt-out" of.  Their classmate transitioned their identity.  Did they want their kids to leave the room, then have them come back thinking the previous student moved & a new student just moved in?

Maybe it seems crazy to some people, but this seems like a situation that is better just left to the kids. I don't think I would have been nearly as confused if my Kindergarten bud showed up one day in a dress and said "I'm a girl now." I'd probably be like, "cool, I think I'll be an astronaut today."

I think this the best comment so far.  Little kids are accepting and want some way to play with.  I could go along with teaching basic civic civility towards others,  but this is too much.

Yep. And to the extent they aren't accepting, a quick book reading by a teacher will really set them on the right course.

I also don't think any parents would complain if a teacher encouraged kids to have basic manners and be polite to others.

Well, the article says otherwise, so...
