This just keeps getting better and better!! In Clinton's case, he lied about about "having sexual relations with that woman" and then quibbled over the meaning of the word "is." In Trump's case, liberals are interpreting the word "I hope you" as "I'm ordering you." And you actually think those are comparable! It's tough to pin a liberal down because they just keep squirming to a new position. This isn't about Trump lying. I'm know he has lied and will probably continue to do so (just like.... Obama!) The "I hope" request that is the cause of the latest liberal meltdown is Comey's claim - not Trumps. Comey quoted him in his tattle note to teacher.

And I don't doubt that's what Trump said. I don't think it was appropriate, but I know it wasn't illegal.

Kaz doub is pretty right on this one. Trump may have crossed the line but if that's a direct quote it's pretty benign.  Someone at Comey's level should have the stones to either ask "is that an order"?  Or reply "I hope you'll let me do my job"

I just checked the FBI employee manual to see if the right response is to write a memo on your conversation with the president, make super sure that memo doesn't have any "confidential" information, then send it to your professor buddy to leak to the media. Turns out you're not supposed to do that. Would have been appropriate for Comey to do either of the things Dugout suggested, except for, you know, Comey being a massive wimp.
