He secretly bought some land through some shell companies and then tried to shut down a public access to a popular river.  Then he sued the state through this secret company.  Then he was found out, and a long time writer for a conservation organization wrote a piece critical of him.  As he was a large donor he used his leverage to get the writer fired.  He has very obviously been shown to say one thing, what conservative Montanans want to hear, and then do the exact opposite.  He's not even a native.  And now he's taken his money there and is trying to fundamentally change the state to the detriment of its citizens.

Emo pretty much summed it up. Extreme fundamental religious views are part of his story too. It's disappointing the Dems didn't do better in finding a challenger, not sure why, maybe they were intimidated by GOP PAC money pouring into the election. But the term is up in 18 months and eyes across the state were opened and the guy will be out on his ass before he can do much damage.

Voting is great except when it's someone who wasn't probably gonna vote. People who maybe weren't gonna vote shouldn't be allowed to vote! Voting should be hard to do.

I think this was brushed by a little too quickly. As an American, I would prefer the people who are the most informed, most engaged, and with the most desire to get to a polling place to be a voice in our elections. I would rather the guy or gal who doesn't understand how government works / what their candidate is really capable of whom just votes the party line stayed at home.

Not sure who puni is talking to, but Max Baucus was an influential Montana senator for like 90 years and Jon Tester is currently serving his second term.

Given the current whack-a-do regressionary neo-fascist police state platform of the dnc, I could see more and more states abandoning the party forever, though.
