This really must be demoralizing for the "sports journalism is journalism" crowd.

I mean, I suppose you can make the argument that all journalism is now merely entertainment, but holy eff sports journalism is the rough ridin' toy department.

I think journalists should make $28k per year, and this supports that belief.

Journalism may be the weakest degree that exists. I have no sympathy for anyone losing a job that involves asking easy questions and opinion pieces

I have a journalism degree. It helps people from being unconfident akward losers and i'm doing fine. Also, a degree is better than no degree. Maybe take a jab at Psych degrees.

General studies is probably the weakest degree IMO. Also aren't you going to a psych degree holder right now?  I think they are decent degrees :dunno:

Not yet and you have to become a doctor to hold the true psych position. Most psych bachelor degrees end up in "sales, recruiting, etc." I've worked with a crap ton of them. Also, I don't believe there's a general studies degree at K-State. You might as well call it a business degree.

I wasn't meaning at K-State specifically, just that general degree.  I'm not sure what you are trying to say about business degrees but it's better than a journalism degree.

Is it? I know people who took both and are making about the same. When I see a business degree on a resume, what I pretty much see is "blah!". Anyways, I just wasn't a fan of sdk knocking a journalism degree, when he currently doesn't have a degree at this current moment. Kinda shitty.

That's changed too. I had to do a web class and create my own website. We teamed up with the lawrence journal world and did a huge research paper that took months of research. Also did a TV course and interviewed Fitz on air (My suit was so short on me at that time, it was up to my knees), etc.

It really is. K-State really let me slide by with it too. I liked doing more of the TV and radio crap. As shitty as I am at writing now, my MBA at UOP actually helped me a ton more.

So true. Like anything else, it's what you make of it. I can't shut up and i'm super social and somehow that works for what I do. Most general degrees lead to entry level roles anyways.

Yup. Almost why I almost went back to be an accountant. I was sick of making crap $. I've always been good at math too. Advanced classes in HS and stuff.
