An NCAA Rnd of 64 loss is always better, but an NIT title for a program that hasn't been to the NCAAs since 1998 and hasn't even been to the NIT since 2005 (CBI in 2012) is a good thing. An NIT title for a program that has been in the NCAAs regularly for a decade and has an Elite 8 in that time frame is pretty worthless and sad.
how many 'ships does our program have? so many we turn our nose up at an NIT title?
It depends a little on where your program is that year. Even with us picked 9th in the preseason poll, no one was gonna be thrilled with NIT champs on Nov 1. Even more so when we were at 4-3 in the B12 late January.
For TCU, it's a cool thing for them. They finished strong after being 3-10 to finish B12 Reg Season
