It's a sad state of affairs when our ability to "get better" is predicated on other teams getting worse.

That's the oscar Way

At least he "hopes" the other teams will be down
Awaiting the inevitable KITN

I don't think that is the case. Returning +60% of mins and most of the teams shooting, it wouldn't be shocking to see this team rise to 22+ ADJem is kenpom. Pushing them in the top 25.

That's a different thing then. That's saying returners get better, new pieces are good, and we pass up teams because of that, not just because of their regression. At least it is to me.

too many debbie downers in this thread lately, why the hate?   should the cats just send joey brackets a coaching contract?   :flush:

I'd take Lunardi over Oscar in a NY minute!

A lot IMO depends on the recruits we land.  We have a.good solid bunch, but it.seems we need a.player that is the get-it-done-stud guy.  At times seem rudderless with no.real floor leader.  Foster (frosh version) was the last consistent big scorer.

I'm withholding all comment until I see the non-con schedule. If it's the same Parkay spread as this year, that's a clear message of what Oscar thinks of the team.

That is my thought as well. I'm not going to get excited for not deflated by the anticipation of good or bad. I'm just going to let it unfold without too much investment.

So far we know:
vs. Wazzu in Spokane
vs. Tulsa in Wichita
Las Vegas Inv with Xavier, Arizona State, and George Washington
Home vs SEC Challenge

Depending on a TBD game in Sprint Center it will be very similar to this past season.

No one would schedule them last year, it is more indicative of what other coaches think about playing K-State and the balance of risk and reward.

I would guess we wouldn't play a sprint center game since we're playing in intrust. The only time we've done both is when we were in the CBE.

We played at both in the 2011-12 season. K-State has played in KC every year since Sprint Center opened so why would we stop now?

Ah, the Alabama game, I forgot about that. They really shouldn't be giving away two Bramlage games unless the Sprint game will be one of those MEAC/SWAC games.

I'd like to know what percentage of high school players, good enough to play major college basketball, think they have a shot at making the NBA?

The majority of basketball players are not choosing a particular school for education. They're picking a school based upon exposure, highest bidder, coach, etc. The one and done rule is laughable in that it spits in the face of the term, "student athlete". It should be done away with immediately.

The second thing I feel should be done is to level the playing field. Since most basketball/football players are not picking schools for academic reasons, every team should be limited in the number of top players allowed on the roster. Spread out the talent and let's see which coaches are really that good. Let's give schools less motivation for cheating.

that seems like it'd be fair.  hard to know anymore, if fair is even the goal.

eff that, go play Wichita State. Playing and beating WSU would actually be something that oscar could do that people would care about. No one gives a crap about him beating Boston College, Rutgers, Cal, or Arizona State.

Perhaps it is because I no longer live in the state, meaning I don't rub shoulders with WSU fans regularly, but I could care less about playing the Shockers. I would much rather play the other teams you mentioned.

I don't live in Kansas either. You'd rather play an insignificant non tournament team than a top 15 in state opponent? There is literally no way you think that, not even you.

Now that they are in a different league it may be better, but I still think that a record vs specific conference opponents seem like better wins on the surface level. I would prefer we were playing teams out of conference in the top 50, but if not, at least from powerful basketball conferences where a direct comparison of win margin could be made with tourney level teams.

I also think playing a team that is from outside the state of Kansas gains us exposure to markets that aren't already very familiar with the KState brand / we can play in front of players families who live in other states.

There are usually 16 or 17 noncons a season, there is no reason KSU and KU don't play home and home with WSU and especially now they are in a league that has the same number of NCAA titles as the Big 12

A WSU contract makes sense now. We should do a 4 years deal with Bramlage-Sprint-Koch-Intrust and see how it goes.
