Jake, Rodney, Russell, Martavious, etc.  You can't say Denis is going to be a huge loss and Sharon isn't in the same breath.  You can't say Cole was meaningless 2 months after saying he was the best defensive player in the league.  Quit being a Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!), Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!).

I'm not saying Collins and Aldrich aren't huge losses.  I just feel good about their replacements.  Not so sure when it comes to Irving, Russell, and Canadian Juco.  McGruder is good, but he's not a point guard.  He's not going to replace Clemente's role of point guard/floor general.

No, but he is going to replace Pullen who's going to play PG some.  Who's going to be the new huge presence in the middle for KU?  Whitey?

Much like me not being able to tell the difference between Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) Morris twins, I don't think Beems knows the difference between "because of" and "in spite of".

I doubt there are any EMAWs saying recently* we'll be better next year with Denis gone, or because Denis is gone, or because we've got Irving/Spradling/Russell/Canada.  EMAWs (and a large number of media) are saying KSU could be better next year because in spite of losing Clemente, we've got Pullen, Kelly, etc. coming back along with adequate fill-in newcomers.

All EMAWs are fully aware of how much Clemente will be missed, both in basketball attributes and in general EMAWsomeness.  Unlike at ku, we don't flip a switch and become "haters" on our former players the second he leaves.  We can't even say "well, at least elevator rapes should go down" to try to put a positive spin on it.

*this excludes the late 2009 clams' of the world who were saying we'd be better w/o Denis.

Beems, what are you not getting about this?

Also, you do know that Pullen is actually a point guard.  Just because he played the 2 when Denis was in the game doesn't make him not a point.  It just made him K-State's best option to win.  If they never got Denis, Pullen would have ran the point all year.  While most of us will agree that Denis is a better point than Jake, the reason we all think K-State will be better next year is because although they are losing Denis, they will only get worse at the 1 and will get better or stay the same at the 5, 4, 3, and 2.  So even though no one knows what will happen next year, on paper K-State will be better next year, and on paper, KU will be worse.

Huge loss for K-State from a mental and a talent standpoint.  Clemente was the balls of your guys' team.  Pullen is great playing off of the ball, but I'm not sure he's going to be as effective at point guard.  I have yet to see one K-State fan give me one good reason for why your team will be better next year without Clemente.

Pullen @ PG as a true freshman vs. #2 KU (the ass whooping) = 20 points. :dunno:

What's your point?  Tyshawn Taylor put up 20 points as a freshman against K-State in an 87-71 blowout win in Lawrence.

That Jake did a hell of a job running our offense his freshman year and is a great PG/SG. Whichever position we need him at the most...

And LOL @ Sherron being a first rounder. Mid to late second rounder at best. Then the lbs rack up even more.

Sheron was called the best player in the history of KU by many KU media types prior to him no longer playing for them, at which point he was called a loser.  He was amazingly clutch and I hated him for it.  Aldrich was called the best defensive player in the league for the last two season by everybody, EVERYBODY.  He was the sole reason our bigs sucked ass v. KU for the last three years.  Yet, ksu will be worse with the loss of Denis (who had no accolades coming into the season and even some of our own fanbase hated during the year) and BMW (but nobody else) thinks KU will be better with the loss of their two best players in the last 20 years who were both pre-season all americans.  Yeah, that's what we're looking at here.

To be fair, most pickers (RP callback) have ku ranked somewhere in the top 20 for next year, whereas last year they ended up somewhere between 17 and 32, so I those guys think they'll be better.  There's even that one guy BMW always cites that says they'll win the Big 12, which obviously would be an improvement over last year.

Back on topic though, it's really gonna suck for us (goEMAW) to not be able to call out heat checks, argue with middle managers about PR flags, share embraces in casinos and all the other things that made everyone love Denis (and made him Podcast #5 co-MVP winner).

I think that any preseason picks from last year that had KU ranked that low were operating under the assumption that both Aldrich and Collins would go pro.

The bolded part.

If ku finishes next year as most people are picking them next year, they'll have improved on last year's 17th-32nd place finish.  I agree with sd in that it'll be a remarkable accomplishment if they're able to improve next year despite losing Aldrich and rapist, but apparently the HBBIQ folks out there think they've got a shot.   :dunno:

Where have I said KU would be "better?"  KU was preseason #1 last year.  They're preseason top 10 this year.  All I'm saying is that KU's replacement for Collins is better than what K-State's got for Clemente, even if you move Pullen to point guard and slide McGruder into the shooting guard spot.

Who replacing Cole? The mongoloid twins won't be able to replicate what that guy did. Cole could bait refs and hit freethrows, FWIW, no other post player on KUs team is worth a damn. KU without a big dumbass :opcat: white center is headed right for the waterfall...

K-State's replacement for Clemente is worse than Clemente. K-State's replacement for Colon is better than Colon. K-State's replacement for Merriwether is better than Merriwether. With everyone else returning from an elite 8 team, I think I like K-State's chances next year better than KU's.

Well stated.

Selby will be a good player, no doubt.  But BMW seems to be counting on him to be another John Wall.  If so, that's great, but its much more likely he'll be Avery Bradley or Xavier Henry.  Again, not a bad player, but not the guy you want to build the team around.

And BMW has this jedi trick all wrong anyway, in reality its much more likely Selby is the replacement for Xavier Henry; the replacement for Collins is Tyshawn Taylor.

Josh Selby has the potential to be every bit as good as Collins.  The Morris twins starting together in the frontcourt will add a different dynamic to the offense, with KU being able to play more up-tempo, and the Morris twins being able to shoot from the perimeter.  Mario Little might not average as many points as Xavier Henry, but he doesn't need to.  You will see a different Tyshawn Taylor next year now that Henry and Collins are gone as well.

I still have yet to see one K-State fan explain how losing Clemente and replacing him with Irving/Russell/Canadian Juco will make you guys better.

I think we'll see a different Tyshawn Taylor as well.  He's going to be a lot worse without those two guys to take the pressure off of him.  Also, why don't you ever mention McGruder when talking about replacing Clemente?  Pullen will move to pg.

Uh, you won't, you Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!).  Irving/Russell/Canadian Juco are a major drop-off from Clemente.  That lone trade-off will not make KSU better.
