one thing is for certain, danny manning is a shitty coach

With the numbers we put up it makes you wonder if they practice defense, like, at all.

They gave up over 1.20 points per possession 9 times this year. We were their 4th worst defensive game, when they played Villanova they gave up 1.54 ppp and against Duke gave up 1.46 ppp.  :horrorsurprise:

Collin's level of play in that game, for me, forever debunked the myth that Danny Manning is a great "bigs" coach.

He led all scorers dipshit

He is a great offensive player, no doubt, but his defense was awful.

On dunks and free throws. He knows how to get point but aside from 2 turn around jumpers, he did nothing.

He is athletic and can jump high. Having set plays run to get you alley oops. Pretty sure all his dunks were alley oops. Doesnt make you a good player. He definitely has upside. But making free throws and getting alley oops doesn't make you a good player imo.

Alley oops are an indictment on the defense, not evidence of good play. Again imo

I guess what I'm saying is that he was hyped up quite a bit. Some saying he was the best big in the country. That's not what I saw.

Felt like we were playing Aggies again and all I heard was about Garrett and he didnt impress.

He is really good.  Great feet, soft hands and silky smooth for a sophomore.  Not sure what you were looking at.

imo, dunking a lot means youre a pretty good player. very high percentage shot.

Also created his own dunks and didn't need set plays to get them. ;)

I agree. Great post position. Great lob. Didn't have to run from the weak side behind defenders who weren't paying attention. Great body that guy was born with.

All those KSU points in the paint, tho.  Maybe you missed that--I thought the job of bigs was to stop that.  Even the pro-WF leotard announcers picked up on that, but guess you didn't.

I thought the refs did an admirable job keeping this game close. The offensive foul on ervin when he got tackled with the ball was superb.

We benefited from one of the most egregious incorrect calls in the replay era and you're still staying on brand with the officials.

Did they not see that dude literally touch the ball when he swiped at it while laying on the ground?

I had no problem with that call. Grabbing somebody's ankle while they are jumping is very dangerous. You are a lot more likely to injure somebody like that than you are by accidentally hitting them in the head area.

He was the top professional prospect on the floor. Clearly a skilled big. A sophomore, playing in a program that demands, evidently, zero defensive intensity. Even in the first half, where he was less effective, the guy had 8 and 4.

I'm sorry it doesn't fit your agenda but he was an unrated 3 star and is a projected 1st round draft pick after his sophomore year.

I know the stats seems to say otherwise, but from an "eye test" point of view I was underwhelmed with Collins. He was a traditional post up and rebound player, which fits the bill. . .but isn't that impressive from a NBA potential stand point. It seemed to me the majority of his points came on fast breaks, put backs, and free throws. He never appeared to have the ability to create points on his own.

I agree with this. I was expecting to see something more like a Beasley, but he just looked like a really good college player to me.

I think there are certain constraints put on him in their offense that keep him in the traditional post up mold. From what I saw, I think he probably can develop the type of individual offensive skills you'd want to see in a lottery pick.
