mir and clams insinuating that there are not a ton of talented people in the K-State athletic department tree is annoying.

I mean, how much evidence do we need that K-State produces stud ADs?
your face is annoying.  i never said that there aren't a ton of talented people in the k-state ad tree, reflect back to my support for kirby.  simple fact is that i don't think veatch is ready. sorry to hurt laird's feelings

I would prefer Weiberg, but what about him is significantly different than Veatch?

Weiberg isn't buds with Venables. That's all I got though.

What evidence do we have?

Well, I suppose it depends on how much credit you give Currie for all of the things that he accomplished. Kirby Hocutt seems like an obvious person to point to as well. Zenger is what he is, but we can claim another AD at a power 5.

My point is, I believe that in a lot of ways our AD has overachieved and trained quality people. I don't attribute all that to Currie (Hocutt has nothing to do with that) but it is one thing that I think we can point to as a strength of his. I don't know why someone from K-State automatically = Urick/Weiser/Krause.

Well obviously, but resume wise is what I meant.

The key for Veatch would be to have people he will listen to from a vision perspective, if he has that the guy can sell it.

The concern I have is, does our president have a vision?   I know he has lead fund raising initiatives etc at Kstate, but does he have big picture vision?

Veatch gives us probably the best possible outcome on the football hire.

What about Kevin Lockett as assistant AD?

These AD searches usually take at least a month, no?  So if oscar is out, Veatch makes the hire.  I would imagine you see how he does and it's his job to lose.  If he hires some pud, you bring in a new AD and he can have quasi-justified itchy trigger finger if needed.

Wouldn't it be very weird for an interim AD making a major fire/hire decision?

No weirder than an interim AD signing secret contract extensions.

We just hire the interim guy for stuff anyway, right?

What if they make it a group decision, with Pres Myers and other people from the AD? Is that more standard? Honest question, this can't be the first time something like this has happened at a P5 school.

Probably better for the interim guy to take the potential fall for a basketball hire unless it's someone amazing

I have decided to go all in on Weiberg but bet it's Veatch.

The trick would be to force OSU in hiring Weiberg this year. Holder is like 71 or something. Then boom, we move on Brad with a 50% buyout reduction.

i can't imagine any coach with a decent name and who is worth a crap is going to take a job for an interim ad

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

I don't know why someone from K-State automatically = Urick/Weiser/Krause.

They don't, I just don't want our search to be limited to these guys. Hocutt actually passes what I think should be our first priority and that's to poach a current P5 AD. It has been pointed out that Hocutt has made more than one questionable hire though.

I think it is a little unique that K-State, for the size of athletics dept it is, has a fairly sizable shortlist of decent, plausible, candidates.
