Tim isn't a real option.  Rest easy.

He's only being discussed as a serious option by those who hate Kansas State and hope that all K-State fans burn in hell.

If we hire Jank, I will embrace Jank. Mostly because Jank is a great townie and would probably come on my podcast.

Jank does not seem very smart.

He parlayed limited success at Illinois State into coaching under Larry Brown (while getting paid $700K to do it) and now becoming the head coach of the program Brown built. Seems pretty smart to me.

He was an assistant on elite teams for lots of his career. I think that explains the Larry Brown hire, but he did become the heir apparent quickly.

He's coached with Kruger, Self and Brown.  That has to resonate in the consideration department.

But the Jackie factor.

That is a lot of head coaching experience to not have any significant success.

Dude is winning with players that Larry Brown recruited. Plus he was very mediocre at Illinois St. No thanks.

Not that it makes any difference, but wasn't he married to Jack Hartman's daughter?

side note, how much better did SMU do with their hire than us? Even if they did end up with a coach with a mediocre record at Illinois State. Regardless they're in a much better place by taking a risk (sort of).

Sadly the first thing I thought of when he hired him was his title game. And I was ok with the hire. But then I found out about all the crap after that.

The only time he's run a D1 before this season was at North Texas and Illinois State :dunno:

North Texas was a bad bad bad job. I think making the NIT four out of five years in that era of Valley basketball is very good. Remember, he wasn't fired from there, he left to be the HCIW at SMU. They are going to win the AAC this year, they are 15-1 in conference and he's 34-4 at SMU.
