L - The Losing Threshold
« on: February 14, 2017, 03:11:54 PM »
After wasting quite a few hours watching Brucetball until the final whistle the last couple of years, I came to the realization that there HAS to be a way to spend less time watching the Basketcats. All I want is a way to spend more time enjoying life's blessings, all the while knowing the final outcome of oscar's games. Behold: L - The Losing Threshold

The first team to score 50 points has:

  • Won 24 23 out of 25 times this year. The one two outlier games waswere TCU and Texas Tech, and the Cats blew 'em!*
  • Won 30 out of 33 times last year. The three outlier games were UNC, WVU, and Texas, and the Cats choked away all three!

If our opponent reaches 50 points first, just immediately stop watching/listening and go crush Busch Light/Millers, pound pus, watch SNL reruns, etc. Rest assured, our loss is the outcome every time*.

Remember that L=L and enjoy your additional free time!

*Except at the Cows but the Cats reached 50 on the play hard chart, not an excuse so it works 57/58 times or ~98.3%

I like this idea, but now I question the entire validity of the numbers.

Oscar's end-of-game decision-making and antics are like watching one of those infected pus-laden abcess draining videoa. You just can't look away.

Cows were up 52-49.

Correct, but on the play hard chart the Cats were at 50 first. But anyways, not an excuse but in the event of a tie the tie goes to the away team so.

98.3% of the time this works, but feel free to buck the trend based on a single date point!

I really believe the Kstate fan gene pool has a strain of self hate and the desire for self torture in it.  This explains why I keep.watching or listening even when we are getting stomped.  Why do we keep watching, listening ...... hey a.light let's fly into it.  Stupid bugs.  Its good someone has overcome.

Are there any other reliable indicators that could clue me in a little sooner? I mean in some of our games nobody reaches 50 til about 1/2 way through the 2nd half and at that point I'm pretty much committed.

Yes.  While the data is much appreciated, an earlier notice would be fantastic. Preferably something before or at halftime.

How long can the Cats hold the Clones off of the 50 mark?

    2-23-17 UPDATE

With the current status of the basketball program the last 3 games, I figured I needed to update the numbers for those of you who are still skeptical and feel the need to watch the game until the last whistle.

The first team to score 50 points has now:

    • Won 25 out of 28 games this year, with K-State blowing two games and only winning one (@OSU)
    • This brings the total to 60/61 over the last two years and a 98.4% success rate! Wowza!

To put this in perspective, if you stopped watching last night when 50 was reached, you would've saved yourself 40 minutes. THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU COULD'VE ACCOMPLISHED WITH THOSE 40 MINUTES OF YOUR LIFE
