UK House of Commons
« on: February 08, 2017, 06:31:31 AM »
Must watch TV! Anyone ever watch this? It's totally fascinating to me and a total joyride. Most amazing is the demand on and performance of the PM. It's a way harder job than American President. A British PM must be much more intelligent, knowledgeable, and prepared than an American President.  It's basically a live performance message board with irl  bodybags, clownsuits, s, and reaction gifs flying every direction nonstop.

On live now on YouTube if my honorable friends are interested in this tastemaker's recommendation. Also probably on C-SPAN or something for you cable totin yanks

Are they really this much better at talking than us or is this an illusion of their dialect?

When they are talking about someone who isn't there, they call them "shadow [title]"

Fascinating. It's fun to imagine an American Shadow cabinet. Who gets who?

I caught one of these late at night once (probably a replay). It was a treat. Would make me much more interested in politics if ours worked that way.

One of my favorite YouTube videos of all time.  The background comments and laughing guy behind Dennis Skinner are great.

My dad watched it every week.

It is very good. Tons of youtube highlights out there. It is lit most of the time, but when things get rowdy and the parliamentarian guy in the ridiculous wig has to gavel everyone to order and calm things down, it is so great.

Dennis Skinner has been doing that since the 70s. He and Thatcher had some great back-and-forths.
