Didn't we have similar comments last year? I thought we got rid of all the cancers, yet this stuff persists.

Quote
The issues causing the slow starts are numerous on both ends of the court, including effort and preparation.

“You can throw it all in there. It’s all of the above,” said Westicles, a senior guard. “There’s no excuse for us being 17 down in the first half as good as a team as we have. We should be disgusted with ourselves with how we played.”

The Wildcats (15-6) are dealing with injuries to point guard Deathbite (ankle) and forwards D.J. Johnson (hamstring, foot) and Claws (foot), but their problems go deeper.

“We have to do a better job of getting prepared and taking the games more serious,” Westicles said. “We came out with too much of a lackadaisical approach and it showed in the first half. We have to make some adjustments and do things different.

“We have some guys boogered up and that affected us, but there are some adjustments we can make as a team. They have pride and heart for playing through some minor injuries but we have to get healthy. This is the crossroad of the season with important games coming up and if we want to make a push for the (NCAA) tournament these are the ones we have to get.”

Actually I have no idea. Just hoping against hope that my guy Wes wouldn't say that.

If the "boogered" quote wasn't Westicles, then the Capital Journal needs a new editor.

TuckNation no doubt will once again point to the players as being the issue, completely absolving Weber of any responsibility.

oscar Weber will get that retention bonus, and will coach at K-State through the end of existing contract, unless we have a new AD somewhere in there.

I think people on this blog have an issue with taking quotes way too literally, but the more stuff like this we see the harder they become to ignore. What the hell is going on within this program?

I think oscar is able to passive aggressively guilt the players into playing hard at times, but I think it's obvious at this point that players in his program generally don't develop any kind of internal motivation to put forth their best effort on a consistent basis.

If oscar were my coach in high school, I could see myself constantly joking around with my teammates saying stuff like "boogered up". Maybe there's a running gag where one of his teammates gave him $5 to slip "boogered up" into a newspaper interview or something.

I don't know why oscar can't froth them up into a fury a giveadang insane stupor.  DJamer, Flush, and Claws play like they would rather lose.a family jewel than lose a game.  Take them out and all we have are store bought toematers, good looking but no taste.

He may not always play well, but I can't fault Sneed's effort. I think the most inconsistent guys are Brown and Stokes. I'm not sure I'd say Wade is the hardest working guy either.

A lot of booger fingers in this thread.  We just need to focus on our boogered up play and need to blow our noses before Wednesday
