Not much really. Maybe speaking or working with the public. Like I'd never want to be a waiter or work with customers I don't know.

I would consider your job as working with the public  :shy:
I would not. I mean yes by the true definition, but no given the relationship.

Turbulence
Do you guys not fear that you're about to die when this happens?

This is my only source of anxiety that I can think of but it's really bad despite the fact I've spent most of my adult life as a moderately frequent flyer.

When airplanes go down it's not because of turbulence. Even extreme turbulence is safe AF. Landing and takeoff are where you want to be doing your rosary deal with the forgiveness and all that.

This too, I think I'm worse on landings than takeoff. Yesterday I landed at ORD and convinced myself we were going to get hit while taxiing.

Controlled environment though.

I feel ya man. I feel like I fly frequent enough for it not to be a issue, but I definitely white knuckle it during turbulence.

The only time I get worried while flying is when you are coming in for landing, but the plane keeps rolling side-to side from the wind. Like, if we land sideways are we going to flip this thing?

The dive alarm before submerging beneath the ocean in a giant steel tube.

Might have been anxiety, but possibly excitement too.

Things I can't control
This. Always this. I don't say the serenity prayer enough.

Things I can't control give me total peace and relaxation. What can be better for your anxiety than knowing it's not your fault?

I'm most anxious when in the airport before a flight.  Once I've buckled my seatbelt, most of it goes away.  Kinda like, i made my decision and relinquished control, so too late to worry now.

They're kinda intertwined especially with the  anxious flyer.  Pre flight jitters is anxiety.  Tightening up during turbulence or landing could be a mixture of both fear and anxiety.

Calling somebody I've never talked to to ask for money or permission to do something. I absolutely hated the 1 time I got roped into telefund and I would make a terrible salesman.

I have a pathological inability to ask for anything. It doesn't cause anxiety because I just don't do it.

I think it causes people problems around gift giving seasons. I wish gift giving would end.

Right, but the framing of this conversation leads people to talk about their greatest sources of anxiety which become fears. This would be a pretty dull conversation about the small things that we all have anxiety about. Lib's expired food anxiety is a perfect example of this. I'm guessing most people wouldn't scarf down turkey from the fridge that has been in there for five months without a wayward thought. Crossing the street is something we all do but I'm sure most have some level of anxiety about it, same thing with driving a car, getting a haircut, staying in a high rise hotel, eating out, getting married, hiring a babysitter, etc etc etc.

Mostly that these days.
