The next six games will decide our fate
« on: January 07, 2017, 11:36:53 PM »
@ Tech
vs. Baylor
@ OSU
vs. WVU
@ ISU
@Tennessee

2 home games against the top of the league, 3 conference road games against teams with a similar profile, and a non con road game that should be easy but won't be.

I think 3-3 is the goal here, at that record you're either going to have one or two great wins(potentially one being over the #1 team in the country) or three road wins against teams we need to better than. We go 2-4 I'll consider that holding serve, 4-2 and we can start talking about a top 6 tournament seed.

oddly the home games might be the two hardest of these

:ohno:

Not even sure how I would rank these from hardest to easiest.  They all seem the same.

Lose only 2.  We beat bear meat next Saturday if Bram is packed with crazed hollering heathens.

I don't think they decide our ultimate fate, but the next 6-7 games for us are big.  I would like to go 4-2 next 6 conf games and beat Tenn. This would have us at 18-4 & 6-3

That said if we are 16--6, our road is tough down the stretch.

Baylor barely beat Isu & OSU. Huggy will be the toughest road game IMO, but we can win any of the 9. 5-4 finish on the road would be spectacular

It will be a significant stretch. kenpom says we lose all 5 of these Big 12 games by a total of 15 points.

I'd be happy with 3-3, but I want 4-2. If this team is going to exceed my expectations, I want them to really do it.

The key for me is playing better defense. Our offense is very good and might end up being the best offense K-State has had in the kenpom era.

If we go 4-2 (or better), I'll be posting/tweeting these for days.

It's going to be hard to post brads face in the coaches who have had their faces coached off thread but tradition is tradition.

At 5-1 you legitimated could talk about winning the league with out being a complete homer. Winning two making the torment and finishing in the top half of the conference is in favor.

Yes, it does need to get better. 2nd half yday was disappointing after allowing 0.82 PPP in the 1st half. Just like after we played good D vs Texas for 37 min then let them finish 7-7 FGs

We have won TO rate 6 games in a row. Each game we have been below 20.0% and our Opp has been over 20.0

*TCU is the game after Tenn. I included that game because it takes us to halfway point on B12 play. 4-2 vs B12 teams and beating Tennessee won't be easy but it can be done. I want to see Brucambo firing off his machine gun

i don't expect us to hit the kenpom exactly, but i'll be disappointed if we miss by more than one.

@ Tech

@ OSU
vs. WVU
@ ISU
@Tennessee

i think i've seen enough now to say that we're going to lose all but WVU.  we match up terribly w/ baylor and i expect to get blown out of that game and after tuesday, i'm not sure this team is capable of winning a conference road game.

we're going to win one that we're not supposed to and i'm guessing that's at home against huggs, the team seems to handle the press ok this year.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

they have 2 better wins than we do and it's a road game.  maybe that game is oscar's upset, only time will tell.

We are faced with the unfortunate position of having to beat the #1 team in the country to avoid the appearance of a possible 1-5 or 0-6 in this stretch. In a vacuum the OSU and Tennessee games are very winnable but if we lose on Saturday it's more than fair to question the mindset of the team.

At some point the thought that their coach is going to get fired if they have a bad season will start to put undue pressure on the team. I don't know when that starts, but probably sometime over the next six games. There's a very real chance we lose the next four games. If we do, the calls for oscar's job will probably be pretty loud. His last team at Illinois went on quite the slide when they realized he was going to get shitcanned.

My initial thought was that we needed to split this week. Baylor is nearly a must win and I think we have a really good shot.

as of today, kenpom has us winning at UT
i don't agree that @ OSU should be considered very winnable.  they're a lot deeper than us and have maybe similar talent in the starting 5.  playing at home there is no reason to expect them to lose that game.

at this point i'm not worried about losing the team even with a loss to baylor.  they should know that they've been playing well enough to win in a couple of their losses. it takes a lot for a d1 athlete to give up.

Guys, if we lose this weekend, I will be officially worried.

Until Weber proves otherwise, I am counting on all road losses, no matter how bad Tennessee or OSU are.

I don't think oscar will lose them with a loss, but there are only so many really good opponents and opportunities on the schedule. You've got to start winning some of them at some point.
