Ernie-ng it; Washington St ADV

Solid 2nd half after a terrible start and lackluster offense in the 1st half. Easy wins over P5 teams are always nice.

Lots of balance in the per 100 scoring, consistent effort by Wes, and nice contributions from Ervin. He seems to be giving us solid Martavious-esque minutes. Also, Wade's defense in the paint was solid against a pretty good big for WSU.

Royals l love your post.game threads.  My stars for the were Honcho Sneed off.the bench.  His first two 3s saved the.gravy.  Westicles was uberprime.  Bullnuts let then boys swing tonite.   Quiet death awards go to Claws, Dogbite, the Flush.  Ho bunch of goodies goin on.

1) Defensivly-- We allowed 18 pts first 14 Poss. Then they banked in a 3pt shot. After that we just played fantastic. They only got 35 pts on 54 Poss while holding them to 32.6 eFG% (11 FG made, 12 TO forced)

2) 5 pts from Brown DJamer & Stokes in 1st half never a good sign.  We had 14 assists on last 18 FGs. Got hot enough to shoot over 50.0 eFG% and over 40.0% on 3pt.  We kept our TO% under 20.0 and won the OR% (and FTR)

3) The Flush and Kam Stokes.... Go shoot 500 FTs a day. It's ridiculous that Brown (11 of last 21) and Stokes ( 7 of last 17) can't make FTs. You 2 are good shooters. Lack of focus or whatever. Get it fixed. Can't have this crap in close B12 games.

4) Ervin gave is energy 2nite.
5) Sneed now 66.4 on eFG

I thought Bullnuts looked like he belonged on the floor. I was surprised to see oscar play him and DJamer at the same time for a stretch. DJamer looked like he was moving well against the forward he was guarding at the time.

I don't understand this either.  We would have a win over a ranked opponent (Maryland) for the ole resume and maybe even get a vote or two in the top 25 right now if we could hit freethrows.  Same crap hurt us in a lot of games last year.  Would have beaten ranked WVU in the Big 12 opener, but couldn't hit a free throw.  And thats just one example.

Need directory of nicknames-player names to understand thread.

Was anyone else disappointed in the turnout at Sprint Center?  Looked to be 13k-14k there.

We missed an extremely clutch FT, so the point has merit, but we also were 10-12 for the game against Maryland. Overall the FT shooting in that game was excellent, but that miss was extremely important.

That's a good point.  Missing that clincher just made it seem like they couldn't hit anything all night.  As a whole, it still needs to be better, though.  I really think good FT shooting makes us a tournament team last year, even if not a very good one.  Hope it doesn't cost us all season.

I definitely agree that FT percentage is awful. I'm more disappointed that we don't get there more though as our FT rate is down quite a bit from the last few years.

It is pretty crazy that as a team we are shooting 41.2% from 3, but only 62.3% from the FT line.

it isn't something likely to continue.

Not getting to line, defensive rebounding and turnovers are what can cause this teams problems. Worry about FT percentage is such a soft shirt tuck thing to do. It will go up.

Our FTr isn't going to be good but you can't praise the three point shooting in one hand and then complain that we don't shoot enough free throws in the other hand.  If we are going to keep hitting 12 threes a game that means we are penetrating and then kicking, that isn't going to get you to the line a whole lot.

I thought it looked like 6-8k on television. But what the hell do I know.

Washington State roster is/was in disarray, plus they're already not good. I can't take a lot from these games anymore.

That's a good point. 3PTA% is up to 35.7 from 31.1. Plus FTr is still a respectable 36.6, just not in the 40s like the last couple of years.

Sneed & Wes are about 76% and DJamer about 72% on FT. Wade didn't start the season well but has made 14 of last 18.  So that is why my voice of concern is towards Brown & stokes. All 6 of those players have the ability to be 70% FT shooters or slightly even better than that.

The 3pt% and the 3PTA% are very encouraging. As is the fact that 8 of last 9 games we have made 50% or better on 2pt.

Defensive 2fg % is what i have actually been the most impressed by 38.7%. I don't know how that hasn't been mentioned.

DJamer's shot blocking seems like it is light years better than the rest of his career - the competition has been bad but maybe the new s&c guy has made a difference

Yes, the defensive 2Pt% has been very good. We all know that the competition we have faced hasn't been very good, but Maryland is the only team to shoot 45.0% or better on 2pt.

We have also done a good job forcing TOs.... Almost 1/4 of the Poss ( about 24.6 TO% )

He looks to me like a more refined version of what he was as a freshman. I think continuing to heal from the broken foot is a much bigger factor.
