Luckily in my family we have successfully purged all conservative thought from our family. We euthanized the older generation, sent a couple cousins to re-education camps and then super liberal universities as finishing schools and we unfortunately were forced to disown one cousin who named his dog after a character in an Ayn Rand novel.

They are rebroadcasting Limbaugh, the day after election show. He skewered liberals. Turn up the volume to drown out liberal Uncle Al. Turn off the heat, and say your hot due to global warming. Use Breitbart placemats. When praying Thank God for Trump. Establish an environmental zone bathroom for liberals that has no toilet paper so forests can be saved.

I conversed with tons of aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, in-laws, nieces, and nephews at Thanksgiving and the idea of discussing politics never even entered my mind. I guess it's fine if your family gets worked up about politics but if it ruined any part of your Thanksgiving I'd rethink your whole approach.

This whole thanksgiving politics stuff started in the Vietnam era, 60's hippie college kids coming home for thanksgiving laying into their parents, you guys are right normal people don't participate in this. It is mainly young idealistic college age kids feeling their oats coming home to prove that they are a BIG adult now and tell their parents that they don't know everything and that they aren't the boss of me. The thanksgivings that you would have run into this would have centered around getting out of Vietnam, Iran-contras, w's warmongering, etc. This year was always going to be pretty politic free because the young libs just got their faces mushed.

My wife has two uncles who are weirdo anti-government anti-vaxxer Trumpers. My wife's mother is a hardcore clintonista and their father, who immigrated to America from Norway at 16 is a long time lib, as to be expected from a Norwegian. Anyway he's 83 and suffering from dementia, and his sons made him cry because they were

all up in his face about the election. My mil had to give them the boot. At least one of them is definitely on some kind of assistance, the dude hasn't had a job in at least 12 years.

We mainly just sat around giving each other high fives and talking about the best liberal meltdowns. We also started some MAGA planning sessions, but conversations kept getting sidetracked back to best liberal meltdowns. Lib7's trampoline gif was well received. The TG spread was fantastic this year. The football games were actually decent. All in all a pretty great TG.

The lib side of my family all lives in California now and are fun and never talk about politics.

The weird religious cult side of the family now all live in texas and are very boring and never talk about politics. Except once, last year at my gpas funeral they were all clowning on trump pretty hard. I have no doubt they all voted for him anyway. They are crazy anti-abortion rally people (shh, don't tell anyone that they forced their daughter to get an abortion when she got knocked up by a black guy). Typical trump voter hypocrisy.
