Ertz Injury
« on: October 16, 2016, 12:54:33 PM »
I don't know whether I want him to be actually hurt (bad because Hubener plays qb) or not actually hurt (bad because he is a wussy).

Either way, I'd appreciate any inside info so that I can direct my frustration properly.

Ertz is Grant Gregory-y.

I will just point out that grant gregory played half a season with half a shoulder, and Waters did pretty much the same thing two years ago.

I am concerned that the trainers cleared him to play, but Ertz took himself out.  I can't say I can ever remember a KState qb taking himself out of a game.

You think the coaches would have had him try to throw a couple balls before he took the field to see if he was good to go before the 2nd half

Did you see why he took himself out? He literally couldn't throw the ball, Mahomes did the exact same thing two weeks ago. #LIFE is right, it is obvious the trainers and coaches didn't have him throw and that is absurd.

I just can't believe that he wouldn't have thrown in warming up for the second half, even if the trainers didn't do that as part of the evaluation.

It's all pretty weird.

I hope he comes back like Mahomes did the following week; I thought there were legitimate signs of improvement yesterday.

I think he probably was throwing in warm ups in a way so he could play. Then when he really had to throw on time he felt pain. I agree with MIR, he was wise to take himself out. It looks like an AC joint injury like Mahomes, so hopefully he can heal up this week.

I don't know anything about shoulders, but the way he got hurt was completely different than the way Mahomes got hurt

They both involved their shoulders being driven into the turf so I don't know how much different they could have been.

I thought Ertz hit his right elbow on the turf; I thought he might've broken his collarbone

Yeah that's a given. I wonder if our coaches would have Mahomes run 10-15 times a game.

I wonder if they are considering pulling Thompson's redshirt.  Without Cook last year, Hubener doesn't even get us to a bowl game, and that is with a three-win non conference.  Knowing the offense doesn't mean crap if he can't complete a simple swing pass.

Are you forgetting that Delton exists? They won't pull Thompson's redshirt even if it means only winning 5 games - and I'm pretty sure we're winning at least 6 even with this crap offense.

Delton can't be out Hubener.  Hubener is a known commodity.  I'm not sure either of them get us to a bowl.  If Thompson is the guy going forward, I think you can make a decent case that the best thing for the program is to play him right now.

Things are going to get pretty gloomy if we have to go six more games of Hubener.

Obviously I'd like to see Thompson play but this coaching staff would never do it. I also don't know that Delton isn't better than Hubes, but our coaching staff is extremely risk averse and probably don't think he's prepared, etc

I want Delton.  Ertz should be 2nd string.  #bazookajoe should be our very last optioy

If Ertz is out for the year I would be devastated for him. I'd rather he lose his job due to being ineffective than another injury.

It would be amazing if his injury was season ending, considering he returned to action for a play on Saturday.

I don't think it's a season ending injury but you do realize that when he tore his acl he ran another play then attempted to take himself out?

MIR is right. Just because he ran another play is not determinative. He did that last year, then missed the rest of the season.
