Stanford did have several injuries and both starting corners were out.
UW has a great defense, but that was known coming in to the game. It looked like a situation where the Stanford offense was just not getting the job done, and eventually, the levee broke on a defense that was relying on backups at a couple of key spots.
It's fine if you want to call out my quote, but coming into this game, the only two Big 12 teams with better yards per play defense were Kansas State and Baylor. And Baylor hasn't played the schedule that Stanford has. Don't forget that in games against KSU, UCLA, and USC, Stanford gave up 36 total points.
Stanford usually shits the bed in a road game most years, and this was the first big statement opportunity for UW in a very long time, and the first under Peterson. When you combine that with the injuries and the fact that this was the last game in an absolutely brutal September for Stanford, it isn't a total surprise.
Finally, as MIR pointed out in that same thread, we are grading Stanford on the Big 12 curve. Not an everybody curve.
