I feel like this is actually the case. It just seems like the real bad crap is happening more frequently. I also work in the news, so that probably plays a roll in it as well.

Probably feels that way because of social media. We used to be able to be ignorant to some of this crap. Now it's everywhere.

like mir said, cops have been killing people without repercussions for as long as there have been cops. now cell phone cameras and dashcams and body cams cut into their impunity at the cost of you having to know about it.

That whole era where the nazi's were trying to kill everyone was probably one of the worst we know of, but it probably doesn't touch the aztecs forcing ppl to jump into volcanoes to sacrifice themselves to the gods, after losing a game of Ullamaliztli. Could you imagine that system these days? We would have sacrificed Len Elliot a long time ago.

Probably long after you die due to over population. It's possible things well be just as "good" but very different though.

It doesn't. Life is generally easier and better for most people in the civilized world than it has probably ever been. My post was in reference to the occurrence and intensity of tragic incidents.
