I'm sure everyone will have different opinions on this, but I would suggest taking the time to really enjoy tailgating your freshman year. If you buy student passes, buy GA tickets. Head into the game right before it starts. Just enjoy the fan experience outside the stadium to its fullest.
Then, every year you attend KSU after that buy ICAT, and stand in line for hours in order to be front row. My friends and I did this and it was some of the most fun I had as a fan. When you can heckle a football player to the point he avoids standing in front of your section it is a very rewarding experience.
As far as heckling goes, keep it classy. Don't cuss or be too simple. Eat away at their confidence, or give them a silly nickname. If they have a first initial pick a really dumb thing for what it stands for. If his name is "T. Smith" call him Turd Smith all game and mention loudly how something smells terrible every time he is around. I also enjoyed yelling "PHONE!" every time the phone rang and begging the coach to put in the third string qb because "he is so ready to play!"
